Delivery Drivers grrr

Chesneyhawkes1 · 11/12/2018 12:08

So DH and I work shifts. This week he's on nights.

I bought a sign for the front door which reads "a night shift worker lives here, please do not knock or ring the bell. Thank you"has

Cue a delivery driver hammering on the door with a parcel for 3 doors up. Which makes the dogs bark etc and now DH awake.

So annoying. I purposely don't order stuff for delivery when we are on nights and happy to take parcels in for others. But ffs read the bright yellow huge sign.

Did your husband get up and go through him for It? I would have. Also, did you see the company? Put in a complaint about the driver on today.

motheroftinydragons · 11/12/2018 12:12

Yep, agreed! I have a three month old and a toddler who I sometimes get to nap at the same time. Rarely! But it's the one half hour break I get. So I put a note on the door saying 'please do not disturb, no exceptions'. (I added to 'no exceptions' but after people just ignored it).

They still ignore it. Even when it's not parcels for us! Make me fuming. I'd be bloody livid if it were a night shift worker getting disturbed.

Avrannakern · 11/12/2018 12:17

What do these people say when you point at the sign they just ignored? I've never been disturbed when I put a sign up. I can't believe they just hammer at the door anyway!

motheroftinydragons · 11/12/2018 12:19

They normally say 'but I've got a delivery!'

Or one fine chap who was knocking at the door to try to get me to go to the local bloody Gospel tent said 'God is never a disturbance my dear' Argh!!

Chesneyhawkes1 · 11/12/2018 12:20

He didn't get up. I ran to the door and opened it quick. The man was just stood there looking sheepish.

I was very short with him. I did see the van so could complain. I know they have a hard job especially at this time of year and the pay isn't the best. I do empathise with them but so bloody annoyed.

I may add the "no exceptions" part on a separate sign and put that out as well.

If they wouldnt sue, i'd shoot them with a nerf gun through the letterbox! But they probably would!

Chesneyhawkes1 · 11/12/2018 12:30

@Avrannakern I actually have a nerf gun! Perhaps next time I will!

You need my dpd guy... he's fabulous. Knocks really softly in case one of the Kids is sleeping. Really friendly as well.

VenelopeVonSweetz · 11/12/2018 12:35

You need my delivery driver OP. He stands at the gate waving frantically and makes me go to his van to get parcels.

I don’t usually mind but I have sciatica and on some days I really struggle to walk.

Bath9000 · 11/12/2018 12:36

Agreed!! So annoying.

I had one knock in my door the other day to check if I was in but the parcel wasn’t even for us. He said - this is for number 43 - (which is four doors down, not even next door) but I’ll come back if they’re not in.

I was so stunned I didn’t have a reply, needless to say he didn’t come back. Envy not envy.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 11/12/2018 13:03

Our postie is fab. She knows we works shifts and often leaves stuff in the wellie box outside the front door.

It would be less annoying if it was actually a delivery for us. Being woken up for your own stuff is easier to accept 😂

This has literally just happened to me again today! With a parcel for people about ten doors down who we don't even know. Grrrrr!
