To ask you about poo

Sorry - posting here for traffic really

DD had diarrhoea on Thursday so she did not go to nursery, she had it again Friday and Saturday but only 1 runny one a day.

Sat night she pooed in her sleep (soft but not diarrhoea)
Sunday she did 3 poos not diarrhoea but soft
Today again 3 poos as above.

I am really stuck about knowing whether to send her to nursery tomorrow. She is fine in herself and eating and drinking normally.

Poos are not runny but smelly and soft. She normally poos once a day at the very most so I am thinking going 3 times a day means there is still an issue.

I am feeling a bit stressed as tomorrow is a work packed day for both me and DP but my mum had her today instead of nursery and I know she has plans tomorrow. The pressure at work is hard at the moment anyway but equally my daughter comes first.

I am not sure what to do :(

What would you do?

She is pooing in her sleep too which is not like her.

I’d call the nursery. As they will let you know their policy.
If you do go to work, chances are nursery will call you if she soils herself, or maybe you’ll spend the day worrying. Does she have a temp, and eating and drinking as usual?

gimmethedietcoke · 10/12/2018 23:52

Ozzie - no temp and fine in herself. Nursery policy is not allowed in 48 hours from last diarrhoea attack. The problem is I am not sure if this is classed as diarrhoea

Good idea to call nursery though

Diarrhoea is generally classed as watery rather than soft.. at least in adults. I would be of the assumption it is the same for children..

cadburysflake · 11/12/2018 00:07

Sounds like the bug my 2 children have just had, they seemed fine but were still having 3 or so poos a day that were a weird colour (yellow) and soft up to about 8 or 9 days after the initial diarrhoea that lasted a few days. My children don't go to nursery but are looked after by my parents, my mum is a nurse and refused to have either of them until it had completely gone. She didn't want to catch it and pass it on at work, rightly so.

By the sounds of it, it hasn't completely gone, I think you need to keep her off until it's gone.

Darkestnight · 11/12/2018 00:08

Sounds like overflow if your dd is feeling fine in herself. Has she been going previously to this. My dd has had this all her life so if it's overflow she could be bunged up a bit.

Don’t feed

flossietoot · 11/12/2018 00:09

Is she making it to the actual toilet? If she is I would probably send her and see how she goes- if still not right would make a GP appointment.

flossietoot · 11/12/2018 00:10

Was also thinking over flow which my daughter previously had at about 4.

gimmethedietcoke · 11/12/2018 23:30

She has been making it to the toilet. I spoke with the nursery and they said it was fine as long as no diarrhoea. She had a poo there today and it was green!! They said she has been fine and happy as normal and they are fine for her to be in.

Green poo though?!! Weird !

My children often have very pale/unusual coloured poo whilst they are recovering from a virus.

Viebienremplie · 11/12/2018 23:57

If the poo is basically poo shaped and she's otherwise fine, I'd be sending her in. I am not a doctor, just a pragmatic working mother
