To think my life would be immeasurably better if only I could complete TOMM bootcamp

Just that really. I've started TOMM bootcamp but it's taking bloody ages as my house is really dirty and full of clutter. How do you complete bootcamp in a house like mine while also holding down a full time job? I think it will take weeks for me to finish sorting out every room properly.

I did pay for someone to deep clean the oven but beyond that I can't afford to pay for a cleaner unfortunately.

Has anyone completed bootcamp stage and lived to tell the tale? Is your house ridiculously tidy now you're following the TOMM method?

I need hope too: my house needs a bootcamp but with 2 kids at home all the time, one of whom is a very active 10 month old who can't be left alone for a second but sleeps so lightly I can't do anything during naptime I'm struggling to see how I'm supposed to do it...

Yes yes it will. The first week is hard but it is worth it.
For what it’s worth I completed the Marie Kondo method first and then started TOMM.
Maybe that would work for you too?

SnartyFartBlast · 10/12/2018 20:12

NB
I take about an hour to do all the TOMM tasks in my house, not 30 minutes but it is incredible.

My house is MUCH cleaner and tidied since I started. It’s not show-home perfect - I have two children with lots of toys who make a ton of mess - but it’s much better.

I gave up on TOMM but have successfully completed the kick start week on Simply Clean and am part way through the come clean challenge. It's making a huge difference but doesn't ask much of me everyday so I can stick to it.

Tomm?

SmileEachDay · 10/12/2018 20:19

OMG I just looked at the TOMM thing.

I’d need to give up work!!

I never bothered with bootcamp. I just tackled a little bit of my problem areas on the allocated room day. Sometimes I might have added on 15/20 mins to the half hour. I seem to have eventually caught up. Or at least to a level I’m very satisfied with. So, for example, on a Monday I’d do the normal living room jobs, and then week one tackle the cupboard of doom, week 2 clean the skirting, week 3, the curtains etc until it’s all caught up!

VictoryOrValhalla · 10/12/2018 20:39

Mine too! Ive put it on the back burner until the new year.

Haworthia · 10/12/2018 20:41

No one needs to give up work. The idea is, you do what you can within 30 minutes. The list of jobs for each day gives you an idea of kind of things you could tackle. Not “do all of these things” because that’s just not (usually) doable within half an hour.

tryingtosortmylifeout · 10/12/2018 21:41

That sounds like a really good approach Kolo. I find that I get so demoralised and bogged down over bootcamp taking so long, that I want to jack the whole thing in. Meanwhile, the house is still a tip and has been for months...

Me too! I have the 30 minute things on the wall. Most days I get the 15 minute cleans done and that's it!!

tryingtosortmylifeout · 12/12/2018 07:44

I deep-cleaned two more sticky kitchen cupboards last night, decluttered and put more stuff away. I really wish I’d done the deep clean when I first moved in, as it’s such a PITA removing every last thing from the cupboards then putting it all back! Today I vow to sort out one more kitchen cupboard, clean the absolutely filthy top of the cupboards and tackle the huge pile of laundry in my bedroom. I will have an organised home!
