Taking children to music festivals?

Am considering doing this next year, but need to prepare for the stress levels!

Those who have done this before, did you camp? Or did you stay in a hotel near by?
How much of the music did they actually watch?
Did they enjoy it?
Will you do it again?
I always see you loads of young kids whenever I go so I know lots of people do it but I’m a little anxious about it.

Also if, if you wouldn’t do it again, why?
Also considering a stadium concert but think festival would be better as there would be more there for kids and a more relaxed atmosphere.

We took DD to her first festival (Kendal Calling) in 2017 when she was 5 years old. We got there on the Thursday and the plan was to leave on the Monday. But ended up leaving Sunday night after the last act. That year DH ended up in hospital so it ended up just me and daughter for the first 2.5 days. I had so much help, people were friendly and although hard work we had a great time!!

She actually watched and enjoyed alot of the music but we didn't stop at the main stage all weekend. We went to the smaller ones and saw something random or just for a dance. She absolutely LOVED it and talked about it pretty much all year.

This year we went again and she was 6. I had DH with me this time too. Again camped thur-sunday night. Had a whale of a tkme. Infact she still says the best bit was being right at the front of the main stage for one of our favourite bands. She was on the big screen too!

If it wasn't for the fact I'll have 5 month old next summer we'd be there again in a heartbeat. We are contemplating getting day tickets for the three of us for Leeds for the day Foo Fighters are on as we know she would love it!!!! Festivals are an Absolutely fantastic experience for them.

Yep I’ve been to loads with DC1 and a few with DC1 and DC2 who is now a toddler and I’m a single parent so no it’s not easy but we all have so much fun!

It does depend on you as a person though, you have to be relaxed about bedtimes, mealtimes etc. My children love watching the evening headliners, we stand at the sides or back where there’s more space and I start playing them the band/artists music a few months before so they know the songs.

Tips: bring ear defenders, snacks and good waterproofs.

I'm pondering the same thing, because DS (9) is desperate to see Muse, but they're only playing stadia, which is rubbish when you're seated a million miles from the stage (he had sight problems). So was considering reading next year (and get bonus of Foo fighters too)
Mine have been to womad, but for one day only, not camping. Also been to folk festivals, but they're v laid back and not at all stressful.
