So ant keeps his job...and lisa looses hers?how is this fair or legal.
If he was any sort of decent man he would insist she keeps her job.and insist that he can work amicably with her.

MrsJayy · 10/12/2018 15:09

Lisa is a free lance make up artist her contract has not been renewed which is a shame but maybe she might notwant to work along side her ex husband she has been publicly bitter about her divorce maybe Itv didn't want to put her in that awful awkward position. I can't imagine many women would work along side their ex husbands who is having a baby with his new girl friend.

Usernumbers1234 · 10/12/2018 15:11

But that would be unfair as well, it’s called nepotism, why should she be employed because she’s his wife?

She may be very talented, but she got the job because she was married to him and she lost it because she wasn’t any more.

M3lon · 10/12/2018 15:12

It isn't sexist that the host outweighs the make up artist in this specific case.

What is of course sexist is that hosts are mostly male and make up artists are mostly female...and the huge gender pay gap caused by the gender segregation of roles in the TV industry, and the valuing of work done by predominantly women being given less value than the work done by predominantly men.

@BrendasUmbrella Mon 10-Dec-18 15:03:16
Nothing illegal about that, just the reality of working on a contract.

True, yet if they were still married she would almost definitely still be there. It's unfair.

This is why you shouldn't really work with your partner. Or start a workplace romance. If it all goes tits up, someone is going to lose out.

LizzieSiddal · 10/12/2018 15:17

Do you know this is actually true?

She may have decided she doesn't want to see the silly little twerp.

MrsJayy · 10/12/2018 15:19

Well there is that lizzie maybe she doesn't want to powder his shiny shiny forehead Grin

BangGoesThatTheory · 10/12/2018 15:20

Happened where I once worked (private sector).
Married male CEO had an affair with a married female senior manager.
Guess who lost their job, also known as ‘deciding to move on’ when it all came out?

LizzieSiddal · 10/12/2018 15:26

Exactly MrsJay, it would take hours! Grin

Mossend · 10/12/2018 15:29

She is freelance so they just haven't hired her for the next series. I can't imagine she'd want to work with him again to be fair.

I had hoped he'd never work on tv again, they certainly did not miss him in the jungle

MrsJayy · 10/12/2018 15:39

I thought Dec was great with Holly

Winlinbin · 10/12/2018 15:39

Nobody watches BGT or any other show because they admire the work of the makeup artist, but they might watch because they like one of the presenters. In this particular instance the male isn’t being favoured because he’s male, it’s because he’s the big name. Sadly for her, she isn’t.

PositiveVibez · 10/12/2018 15:39

She hasn't 'lost her job'.

They just didn't employ her for this particular project.

Her ex husband is the 'star of the show'. Why would they keep someone from the backstage crew, over the presenter?

It wouldn't make business sense.

It's not like they've sacked her.

MrsJayy · 10/12/2018 15:40

And hours lizzie

WinterfellWench · 10/12/2018 15:50

She may be talented, but she got the job because she was married to him and she lost it because she wasn’t any more.

This. Ant is a very valuable person on TV, and Ant & Dec are a massive brand, with a massive fan base, and big following. No-one really cares about Lisa. Sounds harsh but it's true. Ant is the much bigger star, and it was obvious they would have him back. She is just a make up artist. And basically, being a make up artist is not exactly a massive skill or gift. They are a dime a dozen. Her contract has ended and she is easily replaced.

As has been said, she has not been sacked, she just hasn't had her contract renewed. Also, it's not sexism... HE got his job back as he is the much bigger star. Simple as that.

Lisa had a big enough pay-out from her break-up with Ant, she'll be fine! No need for you to worry about her @Veganfortheanimals

EmeraldShamrock · 10/12/2018 15:56

I am surprised the viewers are supporting Ant. Lots of fans hold no grudge, personally I think he is a loose cannon and his next fuck up will be much bigger.

DaffodilPower · 10/12/2018 16:01

Her contract has ended and she is embarking on a new show:

www.hellomagazine.com/celebrities/2018120965449/strictly-come-dancing-makeup-artist-lisa-armstrong-new-job/

It's not sexist to not have a contract renewed. I doubt very much she would have wanted to continue working alongside him anyway, and if she is moving on to a new show perhaps it was more her decision than not?

Chasemechaseme · 10/12/2018 16:03

She’s been very vocal on twitter and pretty horrible about him at times - you can’t do stuff like that and then expect to be on the same project. If I went around slagging off my co worker, I probably would be in trouble. But she’s probably decided to move on by herself

WinterfellWench · 10/12/2018 16:05

@emeraldshamrock

Hopefully Ant won't fuck up again, and he will have learned from what happened.

If he DOES fuck up again, I don't think the tv company OR the fans will be so forgiving.

Everyone deserves another chance, but if people keep screwing up, other people patience. I only give people a couple of chances, then it's 3 strikes and you're out. I have binned, and ghosted plenty of people during my lifetime for various reasons, ranging from treating me like shit, to using me, to letting me down, to telling lies constantly. to cadging money and not returning it, to stealing from me..

Most people deserve one or two chances, but there's only so much patience ANYone can have when someone is a repeat offender.

Veganfortheanimals · 10/12/2018 16:28

Perhaps I don't understand sexist then.....as to me that whole thing is sexist that she dosnt have her contact renewed, but a male drunk driver does...but I don't want to be one of these people who go on here to ask for advice and not take it ,so as you all say it's not sexist I will accept it..I don't know ..he's some big star ,but no one cares she hasn't had her contract renewed because he left her for someone else...just not nice at all.and I think wrong of itv....but as I'm seem to be in the minority,I will leave it there.

WinterfellWench · 10/12/2018 16:31

@Veganfortheanimals

You are entitled to think it's sexist if you want. You are within your rights to have an opinion. Indeed, there is a lot of sexism in media, society, and life in general. I just think in this case, that sexism didn't come into it. Smile

MrsJayy · 10/12/2018 16:33

But maybe she didn't want it renewed look it is pretty obvious lisa got her Saturday night take away and BGt because of her husband she is now independant of him and maybe her not working on BGt is because of that nobody knows for sure.

Veganfortheanimals · 10/12/2018 16:36

Wench...so if ant and Lisa were a gay couple ,and this happened, then it couldn't be sexist ,because they are the same sex?? ..so that's why people are saying it's not sexist?.. this is why I don't go on the femist boards ,I get confused.

OP posts:
OutragedERIC · 10/12/2018 16:42

It's not sexist imo because the reasons behind arent because she is a woman and he is a man. The reasons are to do with him being one of the stars of the show, and her being behind the scenes production staff.

If say, it was a similar situation with Amanda Holden and her freelance camera man husband, they'd get rid of him, not her. (Hypothetical btw, no idea who Mandy's husband is or what he does)

ClaryFray · 10/12/2018 17:26

As others have said perfectly legal. Immoral maybe, but your assuming that's the reason.

PebbleDashed · 10/12/2018 18:21

You'd also be in your rights to not think much of a drunk driver and complain to ITV about keeping one on in such a public position. Although it may be that he's had a warning or whatever. You sound like you're conflating different issues.
