To consider going to my MP re DVLA?

Totally prepared to be told I'm unreasonable - I really have no idea.

I found out earlier this year around May time that I have a developmental brain cyst - nothing scary or serious, but it's in a part of my brain that interfickers with memory/memories. As a result I occasionally get simple partial seizures. I never lose consciousness and they're just annoying/uncomfortable and leave me feeling a bit sick.

In the interest of doing the right thing, I told DVLA about it. They revoked my driving license and said if I hadn't had one in 3 months I could re-apply with a doctors letter confirming I am fit to drive (which I am, and always have been). So the last "seizure" I had was in early June, I've not had one since then as I've been put on Lamotrigine.

So, August comes and goes and I get a Dr's letter confirming I am fit to drive, and always have been (I appreciated him putting that in the letter). I put my application in to have my license back 9 weeks ago. Today marks 9 weeks.

I've phoned several times and asked for an update and just get told the same thing every time, that it's with the medical manager and nothing more can be done with regards to a timeline. It says on their website they aim to get back to people in 4-6 weeks. So, WIBU to ask my MP for some kind of help with this?

I would just sit and wait but in all honesty having my driving license taken away has battered my mental health and I feel like my life has been put on hold. I'm totally dependent on my partner to get around now and it's just infuriating. I miss the freedom of having my car and getting around by myself.

no harm in asking your MP for their support - go for it!

@Ifailed - that was what I reckoned - no harm in asking if it's something they can help with?!

They’ll totally help you. And the response will be so quick as the DVLA don’t want an MP on their back. Do it ASAP. Happy driving :)

P.S used to work for an MP and an AM. This is their bread and butter.

@MadeiraCycle - thanks so much for your reply. I've just emailed the MP! Fingers crossed.
