Hi everyone, just wondererd if I could have your opinion.
Last year my neighbours bought their 10 year old a basketball net. Hes often playing in the garden. The hoop is positioned really close to our back door and we can hear the thud of the ball bouncing from our patio, kitchen and lounge, even with the doors and windows shut.
We have a large shared driveway and I have previously asked whether the net could go there, rather than next to the houses. My neighbour just ignored the text and I haven't said anything since. The sound is driving me mad.
What do you think? I know he needs to play but surely the net doesn't need to be so close to our back door.

Invite her over for coffee while he's in full bounce.. That should do it.

I can't believe how petty this is. The kid is playing basketball not doing anything wrong. Kids are supposed to be allowed to play in their gardens. I would think you were crazy if you complained about a child playing basketball in their garden.. As would 100% of my neighbours. Having said that I live in Spain where people generally like children as opposed to just tolerate them.

most posters seem to think Op is either asking the kid to stop, or that there is nowhere to go.

Op has clearly said there is a massive space, next to the garages at the bottom of the drive, everyone would be happy, no reason not to do it there, perfect solution.

Why on earth would it be a problem?
Talk to her, be sure to say you are fine with him on shared drive, not worried about car etc.
