To not send christmas cards

Baulbleboa · 09/12/2018 18:27

So ive decided not to send personalised "title" Xmas cards this year (mum/dad/bro/cousin) etc

I will send a card per household, one of the cards my DD designed at school for charity

Sorry posted too soon!

I know I'm not BU To do this

But AIBU to warn people in advance that I'm doing this ?

I will be making a donation to NSPCC in lieu of these cards, but wondered if I should mention in advance so that they are released if the obligation to buy me one ?

But you’re still sending cards?

I’ve only every sent one per household.

Baulbleboa · 09/12/2018 18:32

I'm sending one per household instead of e.g. SIL/bro joint card, auntie, uncle, cousins
cards, (so potentially six cards for that house) just as one example

I have never ever bought individual Christmas cards and have always sent one that is for the whole family

gingercat02 · 09/12/2018 18:37

That's normal OP one for each family group if they live in the same house

Baulbleboa · 09/12/2018 18:38

What about DM? Would normally get mum and granny card ... AIBU to give her one card?

I'm baffled by these daily posts asking the same question - while always pointing out the charity angle - send them or don't - I'm not sure it's such a dilema

ImogenTubbs · 09/12/2018 18:40

OP - you are way overthinking this. Just send one per household.

And donate to the NSPCC whatever you decide.

dementedpixie · 09/12/2018 18:40

If you wanted to give an individual card without buying a mum one, just take a different one out of the pack you are using

Baulbleboa · 09/12/2018 18:44

Dementedpixie they're all the same Grin

Our family decided to just stop sending cards as its a waste of money and card, we spend all xmas and new years together anyway.

Baulbleboa · 09/12/2018 18:49

MumGoneCrazy

These are great, but,
I don't want to to buy anymore cards ... Not for the cost, more for environment.

So I was asking if AIBU to send the school & donate what I would have spent to charity ...

I guess I'm making this a dilemma that it needed be is because I know I will receive all the auntie/sister etc cards and AIBU to not do the same

Quite possibly the most confusing thread of the day. Confused

You send the same card to everybody? I try to buy cards that have at least 2 designs. I use up cards from last year too so I have a range of designs

Baulbleboa · 09/12/2018 19:14

No, the pack of cards I bought from school, were designed by DD, and are all the same design.

I have no other cards

And I really don't want to buy any.

OP posts:
Cookit · 09/12/2018 19:47

Seriously, it’s very normal to buy one per household.

I have never in my life had an individual card.
