to take my baby swimming?

My DS is 7 weeks.

I LOVE swimming and want to take him next week.

DH says I should wait until he's 1 because he's 'too small' and 'no point In taking him now' - he thinks it is dangerous. He has no evidence to back this up but really doesn't want me going.

I'm a strong swimmer and would only be in the baby pool...

Anyone take their babies swimming and get on fine?

If so, any tips?

Thanks.

I've just ordered one online :) it's one of the wetsuit ones so hopefully he will stay warm!

I'm excited to take him now :)

I took my baby from a young age with water babies. Baby sessions take place in warmer pools and they give you tips on how to hold baby etc. My little one loved it. I have heard though that they don't really learn to swim until they are 3/4.

Go you'll be fine don't be disappointed if its time not great all new very noisy and cold . I used to take mine 3 to 4 time a week but lucky as had gym membership and it was free sometimes only in 10 minutes tops .Nothing to be nervous about you just keep hold of them.

Took both of mine as soon as they had their jabs (that was the advice then) they both loved the water and progressed to parent and baby session (nursery rhymes playing lots of splashing and singing and dancing) then had them in lessons at 2 and a half they both love the water and are confident swimmers.

I did have them in the bath with me first from just a couple of weeks. They loved the skin contact and the step up to the pool wasn’t that big.
Trust yourself it’s one of the best things you can do with your baby
