Another name for it is labyrinthitis. I started feeling dizzy a few weeks ago. Then two weeks ago I was sat at my desk writing, my vision went black and I felt like I was falling. Embarrassingly, I shouted out 'waaa!' and slammed my hands down on my desk to stop myself from falling. Felt horribly dizzy all afternoon. I went to the doctors who diagnosed vestibular neurititis based on my symptoms. He did some blood tests and prescribed tablets. I have another appointment Monday. I haven't taken the tablets as, after I had got them, the information leaflet said they must not be taken by a person if they or any members of their immediate family had previously had a blood clot. My mum, both maternal aunts and my maternal grandma have all had a dvt and one of them had a PE. My family history meant I had to take aspirin during pregnancy and inject blood thinners after birth. I couldnt get hold of my gp so decided not to risk it and to just muddle on until my appointment on Monday. I feel shocking. It comes in waves. My ears feel like there is pressure behind them and I feel so nauseous. I can also hear a faint, high pitched ringing at times. I am really struggling with noise too. Lots of voices all talking at once sends my head into a spin. Earlier, I was out with my family and we were in an old farm house that was built at funny angles and had a slightly uneven floor. I felt like I was going to faint, the whole room felt like it was moving. Im finding that it is making me feel tired and when it is really bad, I feel a bit confused - like I cant focus or string an articulate sentence together.
I am desperately looking for advice on how to manage this, reassurance that it will get better and someone to say they understand.
