I have a very vivid memory of singing a song at one of my primary school nativity plays. I went to a Catholic school in the 90s, so it might have been written as part of an RE curriculum. Still, I remember really liking it, and I'd love my future DC to have a recording of it to sing along to. I can't seem to find it anywhere online. Here are the words as I remember them.
Clip, clop, clippedy clop
Come on, little donkey, there's no time to stop!
You've got to carry Mary to Bethlehem, and it's almost Christmas morn.
And on Christmas morn, a child will be born
To save our souls for heaven to this world forlorn.
The sky is bright with heavenly light
And it's almost Christmas morn.
Shepherds, watching their sheep.
Wake up, sleepy shepherds, there's no time to sleep!
There's something special happening in Bethlehem,
And it's almost Christmas morn.
And on Christmas morn, a child will be born,
To save our souls for heaven from this world forlorn.
The sky is bright with heavenly light, and it's almost Christmas morn.
Wise men, journeying far,
Keep watching the very special shining star.
You've got to travel onwards to Bethlehem, and it's almost Christmas morn.
And on Christmas morn, a child will be born ...etc
I think it had a few more verses, but those are the ones I remember. Does anyone else remember this? Have I made it up, somehow???
