BF in shoe department

Set the scene...

DH wants something from primark. It's tipping down with rain. Head to primark. DS (7 weeks) is in a sling and starts rooting. DH shops whilst I BF DS in a very quiet show department (only place that had sears)

WIBU to feed my baby here?

My cousin did once because she was in an environment surrounded by men and felt very uncomfortable so bf in the toilet, then felt very guilty!

Entirely reasonable. And in fact just the sort of locale I was looking for today when in city centre with hungry baby, horizontal rain and all cafes mobbed with no seats! I ended up feeding my 7 week old in a random corridor in house of Fraser outside their cafe. I'm fairly sure the chairs I found were being gathered together for a function but no one seemed to mind.

If only she'd go in the sling I could feed while I shopped and live the dream!

You can legally bf anywhere you are allowed to be so crack on and meet your baby's needs and ignore the funny looks. To be honest, they're pretty rare in my experience and most people are friendly.

Please do not ever feed in a toilet, after all, you wouldn't eat there, would you?

I remember feeding DS in Ikea. I just sat down on a display in the outdoor section and fed him. I was there for a good 45 minutes as I recall. I don't give a shit if anyone has a problem with it...well, I didn't at a few months, but I admit I wouldn't be so happy to do it now he's 3.5! Grin

Woman was rude and nasty. If it was fine for you to sit there then it was fine to breastfeed there.

out of interest what different kind of places have mn fed their babies? (me at end of Clacton pier & on long distance flight - staff were great to give me privacy they gave my husband big paper to read :) )...long time ago ...

@mumsastudent you should definitely start a thread as I think it could be super interesting and give new mums like me more confidence to bf in public!

Once I sat down on a display unit in John Lewis and a partner appeared out of nowhere with a cup of water and pointed out some more comfortable chairs. Feed where you want, the more you do it the easier it gets.

You feed where you need to op, and sod her. Wish I knew exactly what it is that this woman and others like her disapprove of.
