A very long shot. International parcel collection?

I need to send a parcel internationally. Do I need to go to a post office or is there a courier company that would collect from a UK address?

You can do either. We usually use a courier (for business, parcels are quite large and heavy so suspect it’s cheaper). Either way you will need to fill out and sign customs declaration. Unless it’s very large/heavy I’d probably just go to post office rather than trying to coordinate with a courier unless you’re home all day.

Parcel Monkey have been good in the past.

You can do either. If sending it to me, courier is better, as Saudi post is awful. So consider what happens at the other end.
DHL also have outlets in some shops like Smith's and Rymans, if those are easier to get to than the post office.

marcopront · 08/12/2018 04:47

Where are you sending it to?

Thedukes · 08/12/2018 05:09

France, it's just hard for me to get to a post office during their opening hours. Would DHL or something collect it from my work address? Would it be significantly more expensive?

Have they any way of weighing it etc. or do you just give credit card details for them to charge it to?

Parcel 2 go do both. My last parcel to oz cost an extra 20p to collect.

Cantchooseaname · 08/12/2018 05:13

You weigh and measure, put details in, do customs declaration if needed and print label.

Ninjasan · 08/12/2018 06:32

I use DPD. It's easy and they collect from your house.

lljkk · 08/12/2018 06:42

I've used MyHermes to send stuff to France & Brussels recently. No problems. They have shops everywhere to accept the parcels.

Trumpton · 08/12/2018 06:42

Unibaggage are great . But possibly only if parcel is large .

BikeRunSki · 08/12/2018 06:46

It might be worth double checking your PO opening hours, and those of others locally. Mine recently niced into the shop of a petrol station and is open 6am-11pm.

couriers get cheaper than royal mail the larger and heavier the parcel is. I suspect royal mail quite deliberately inflate their prices at the larger end of the scale because they just don't want to have the infrastructure to deal with bigger deliveries. typical "Christmas gift" size packages will be more expensive by courier than by Royal mail but not by much.

KittyMarrion · 08/12/2018 07:55

When we had to have a small item delivered to Europe courier was cheaper than Post Office and they collected it. Google with the dimensions and weight of your item to compare prices.

Blondiecub0109 · 08/12/2018 08:01

My parcel delivery .com is a comparison website and you select collect or drop off, print own label etc. it doesn’t cover Royal Mail tho, so if your parcel is under ~5kg it’s going to be cheapest to use PO. You can buy and print post office postage at home (use kitchen scales to weigh), could you get a neighbor to drop off or hand to the postie at work when he collects?
