Work parties and babysitters

fannyanddick · 08/12/2018 00:57

'D'h sleeping in the other room in a strop. Both had work parties. He said he'd relieve babysitters (my parents) around 10.30. I was due to be late. Phoned at 12.30 saying just getting home. (Just before me). Can he say I was due to be back first, he didn't realise. I said no. He got home, pretended he was surprised to see them but I'd already texted telling them we'd spoken and he was just coming.

Apparently he'd have covered for me if it was his parents and basically I'm a complete bitch. Aibu.

YANBU. He's being wimpy.

EmUntitled · 08/12/2018 01:04

YANBU he needs to take responsibility for his choice to be late home. Were your parents cross?

Lovingbenidorm · 08/12/2018 01:04

Sorry, read this three times and am having trouble understanding it. I’d suggest going to bed with a big glass of water.
Plus a big thank you to your parents

fannyanddick · 08/12/2018 01:08

Haha Benidorm. Yes you're right.

It's annoying, he basically wanted me to say I'd got it wrong and should have been back earlier. I also am annoyed that he didn't ring me at 10 and say he hadn't left yet, could I get back early.

He also dropped in a catty and completely irrelevant but 'my job is so important' line.

I am completely in the dog house and as far as I'm concerned I have done nothing wrong.

'my job is so important' and includes getting pissed for hours??

He would have covered for you? But likely you wouldn't have done that.

HIBVVU

fannyanddick · 08/12/2018 01:18

Thank you. I am beginning to doubt myself. Maybe I should have agreed to cover for him. He is not normally late.

YANBU, he sounds ridiculous. He should have gone in and apologized, not tied himself in knots making up lies.

Weenurse · 08/12/2018 01:20

Big apologies to parents from you both. Then frank discussion about why he failed to keep his word. Does he consider his wants above everyone else’s agreed plans?
Also, the ‘my job is soo important ‘ line needs to be addressed.

Lovingbenidorm · 08/12/2018 01:22

He said he’d be back at 10.30, we can all give a bit on that one, but you’d organised child care and made it clear you were going to be late.
Sounds like you’re both a bit pissed and irritated that the other wasn’t taking care of the homestead.
Do you think he felt like a twat coming home arseolded to your parents?
Also, I don’t like that you are in the ‘dog house’ and he called you a bitch.
Pot and kettle here

Miscible · 08/12/2018 01:48

Why on earth should you have lied on his behalf? There is simply no logic to it.

Miscible · 08/12/2018 01:49

@Lovingbenidorm, OP had organised child care up to 10.30 because that's when her husband said he would relieve her parents. She clearly didn't "make it clear" that they were both going to be late. How on earth is it a "pot and kettle" situation?

ExFury · 08/12/2018 01:53

So he wanted you to let your parents think it was you that took the piss out of them by coming hone later than planned, rather than him? Fuck that.

fannyanddick · 08/12/2018 01:54

I think he thinks because they are my parents, I should cover for him.

Things for young mothers seem not to have changed much over the years and this is disappointing. The woman is a bitch and the man can have a good night out without following through on any promises made because his job is so much more important. It takes me back a few years, but not in a nostalgic sense.

Lovingbenidorm · 08/12/2018 02:01

Miscible they are both pissed

NerrSnerr · 08/12/2018 02:05

Loving why does it matter if they're both pissed? He was supposed to be home to relieve the childcare at 10.30, that was the agreement. How is this the OP's fault in any way?

Lovingbenidorm · 08/12/2018 02:11

I’m not entirely sure that this situation is very clear tbh.
I just think that when you’ve both had a lot to drink and it ends up sleeping in different rooms with one person calling the other ‘a bitch’ ........
