Animals get a bad reputation unfairly

Silly thread really

But what's the deal with the reputation of animals?

Llamas - drama llama
Giraffe - you're having a giraffe
Cow - stop being a cow

And so on... somewhere in our collective unconscious we've assigned traits to animals somewhat unfairly I feel

I've never owned a llama but are they dramatic? I've not seen it...

Llamas aren't dramatic. Mountain goats are quite dramatic, but they don't rhyme with drama.

claraschu · 07/12/2018 21:13

The worst is when people refer to some frightful human as "an animal", completely forgetting that the only species that is sadistic, abusive, murderous, rude, polluting, wilfully destructive, drug addicted, and generally a blight on the landscape, is actually homo sapiens.

incallthebloodytime · 07/12/2018 21:15

Well claraschu... I did recently learn dolphins were a bit sadistic and abusive on here...

MrWolfknowsthetime · 07/12/2018 21:15

Llama and giraffe are just due to the rhyming aren’t they? Personally I’ve never seen a giraffe laugh. But then I’ve not seen all that many giraffes tbh.

claraschu · 07/12/2018 21:16

I doubt it. People anthropomorphise dolphins and other animals all the time, but I remain sceptical.

loubluee · 07/12/2018 21:22

Eating: you are a pig

loubluee · 07/12/2018 21:23

Certain girls get called ‘dogs’

loubluee · 07/12/2018 21:23

Pussy is used as a term

loubluee · 07/12/2018 21:23

Stop being an ‘ass’

StoneofDestiny · 07/12/2018 21:23

Heard of people described as
A Dirty rat
as Sly as a fox
as Slippery like a snake
an old crow
a bitch!........

loubluee · 07/12/2018 21:24

Cheeky monkey

loubluee · 07/12/2018 21:24

Stop being a ‘tit’

loubluee · 07/12/2018 21:25

Cuddly bear

Racecardriver · 07/12/2018 21:25

I don’t think that any actually connects these traits to the animals though.

loubluee · 07/12/2018 21:26

Someone can be quiet as a ‘mouse’

incallthebloodytime · 07/12/2018 21:31

Why do we do it?!

OP posts:
Craft1905 · 07/12/2018 21:51

Heard of people described as
A Dirty rat
as Sly as a fox
as Slippery like a snake
an old crow
a bitch!........

Also, as brave as a lion, as wise as an owl, as strong as an ox, as fast as a whippet, and swims like a fish. So it's not all negative.

incallthebloodytime · 07/12/2018 21:54

The positive ones though are more truly descriptive are they not?

OP posts:
user1473878824 · 07/12/2018 22:22

.............. ¯\(ツ)/¯ does it matter?

incallthebloodytime · 07/12/2018 22:25

I don't know if it matters hence I said silly thread really

But I wonder about it

OP posts:
LaLoba · 07/12/2018 22:29

Are you from PETA? Because this sounds like their most recent campaign. And as the type of person who unapolagetically views animals as better people than people are, I have to say this approach to policing language and idiom is a terrible load of bollocks. (With apologies to any men offended by my turn of phrase).

incallthebloodytime · 07/12/2018 22:32

No not from PETA 😂 I'm not requesting anyone changes it either.. just after a PBP posted a thread and was called out for being a drama llama earlier my brain wandered to why are llamas dramatic... and my thoughts evolved to starting a silly thread wondering

OP posts:
happyclutterchucker · 07/12/2018 22:39

Drama llama just rhymes that's all. It is a turn of phrase.

OP, you are being a silly sausage.

incallthebloodytime · 07/12/2018 22:43

Even when they are a piece of meat pigs aren't taken seriously! Silly sausage - hmmmph 😅

user1473878824 · 07/12/2018 22:46

Apologies OP, I thought you were being very serious about it! This calls for more wine...
