To superglue my tooth back together?

I’m going away first thing tomorrow and i’ve just chipped my veneer. It’s left an ugly black tooth showing. I’m one of these people with awful sticky out front teeth so it can’t be hidden.
No time in the morning to see dentist besides I won’t be prioritised as i’m not in pain as the tooth is dead. I have the bit that broke off. I’ve checked my tool box and don’t have any superglue in but WIBU if I went out and bought some and glued it back together until I can see a dentist on Tuesday or whenever they can fit me in after that? Or should I try something like fixadent?

There is special tooth glue you can use to glue crowns back on, my dp had a temporary crown last week that fell off and he got some to put it back on. Sounds like that might be the best option?

If the veneer its self broke I would superglue it back together. However thrsuperglued together veneer I would attach to the tooth via an appropriate ( if they exist) specialist adhesive ( I would really want s dentist). Surely if the sender itself has broken most dentists would like to take a mould for a replacement veneer.

Sorry ( fat fingers). I would superglue veneer back together and then use tooth appropriate adhesive to attach fixed veneer to my tooth. However all would be secondary to a visit to my dentist

The temporary tooth filling stuff from boots is great for stuff like this. Should see you through until you can get to the dentist.

I have used it as an actual temporary filling before and it stays in place well, it should have no problem holding a veneer in place for a while.

wellhello and costa thank you so much. It’s in stock at my local boots so will get one as soon as it opens. Hopefully it’ll mask it until I can get to the dentist.

yoyo looking at it i’d have to superglue the shard of veneer to my actual tooth (or what’s left of it) so maybe the dentist won’t have anything to get it off. I assumed they used some sort of small sander type tool.

Don't superglue, it'll cause more problems when the dentist goes to replace it!

When this happened to me I used Toofypegs, bought it from a small pharmacy for £7 or so - it has the glue that secured the veneer chip on until a dentist could take a look. There's all kinds of different brands and they're all better than superglue! (I considered it too!)

millymollymardy · 07/12/2018 21:14

The temporary cements won't hold a veneer fragment on.
Superglue will hold it until you can see a dentist. Try the fragment on a few times so you know exactly how it lines up. Dry the tooth and fragment beforehand and only a smear of glue on the side and edge that covers/meets the tooth.
Your dentist probably won't be able to get the broken bit off but the veneer will need replacing anyway.

It can be hard to get the temporary tooth filler stuff to set. DH had to use some on holiday for a chipped tooth and it didn't set very well.
When he saw a dentist they recommended using a hair dryer to get the tooth completely dry first and to then set the paste.

The boots one says it needs to be really wet. Maybe I should try local chemist if it’s open Saturdays. It’ll be quick too if they have anything.

Toofypegs as mentioned by PP is the one you want. The kit contains both temporary dressing for lost fillings and a capsule of powder that you mix with water. The powder is dental cement and this is what you need to fix your veneer

yoyo1234 · 07/12/2018 22:14

I would not superglue a veneer directly to my tooth ( I would be worried that it may not be removed easily by dentist). If you use appropriate glue to attach the fixed veneer could you take a tube of the glue to your dentist so they know what they are dealing with?

BeekyChitch · 07/12/2018 22:18

DO NOT superglue! Can't you book an emergency app at the Dentist in the morning?

2isabella2 · 07/12/2018 22:48

This happened to me. I used superglue, the dentist didn't bat an eyelid when I told him! However I didn't get a new veneer but a crown that time.
