I've noticed this year lots of me and mini me outfits so matching mum and daughter outfits but nothing mum and son. I'm sure one mum out there would like a dress with matching shirts for her sons.
I love being a mum of boys but sometimes it feels like the commercial world wants you only to pair up with same sex children.
Ps - light hearted and my ds are too big to match me at Christmas now

Why would you want to do this? How odd.

Thurmanmurman · 07/12/2018 11:33

Why would you want to do this? Well my daughter is 8 years old and wants to be like her mummy. I saw a couple of matching dresses with Father Christmas on them and knew my DD would love them. How is that in any way 'odd' or difficult to understand? IMO it's odd that it's such a difficult concept for some people.

Have a look at Duns Sweden they do lots of bright unisex patterns in dresses, tops etc for baby’s and children and have matching items for adults.

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 07/12/2018 11:37

I’ve seen a few whole family matching pyjama sets advertised this year (I think some even included a set for the dog..!)

Avrannakern · 07/12/2018 11:38

@Thurmanmurman

My 2 boys want to be their own person. I'm happy to encourage that. Certainly wouldn't encourage them to be "Just like" someone else.

GypsyRoseTea · 07/12/2018 11:40

Next are selling matching outfits

MayFayner · 07/12/2018 11:42

nottonightjosepheen your DS sounds like he has amazing style 💛

DioneTheDiabolist · 07/12/2018 11:51

DS1 and I often dress the same.Blush And sometimes DP is wearing similar.BlushBlushBlush

brizzledrizzle · 07/12/2018 11:57

M & Co have window displays of matching xmas jumpers for toddlers to pensioners and all ages in between. I'd lose my head if I suggested that my family wear them.

Tinty · 07/12/2018 12:04

@Lazybonita

Where did you get the Sloth pyjamas? my DD would love them.

Thurmanmurman · 07/12/2018 13:22

Arvrannakern My DD is very much her own person. A couple of novelty Christmas dresses once a year doesn't change that, nor does prancing around the house in my high heels and trying on my lipstick occasionally! It's very normal for girls (and sometimes boys) to want to copy their mums at a young age. It's certainly not 'odd'.

@Tinty (that was the name of my rabbit when I was a kid!) Sorry for late reply, sloth pyjamas are from Next.

Starlight456 · 07/12/2018 16:41

I find the whole thing bizarre.

I just asked my 11 year old Ds if he would like a matching outfit to me . His face was a picture and a definite no 🤣

DS13 went into town a few weeks ago with friends and came home with a few new things. One of which was a shirt that DH already has. Last night we had a night out and both decided to wear their matching shirts, both complaining loudly to the other that "I'd put it on first, you take yours off, no, you take yours off".

DS7 smiled at me and said "shall we buy me one the same just to upset them some more?" so this morning we ordered one together. On Christmas morning I'm going to make them all pose for the worlds most uncomfortable family portrait in their matching shirts.

cariadlet · 07/12/2018 21:10

I haven't heard of matching mum and daughter outfits or seen anyone wearing them. Seems very odd. I can't imagine dd wanting to dress like me when she was little let alone now that she's a teenager.

Tinty · 11/12/2018 11:33

@Lazybonita Thank you Smile

I like his style. Idontbelieveinthemoon Grin

This thread is bringing back memories of those ghastly families at Disney with their 'family' t-shirts!
