To think this is pretty rude?

I was a regular customer at a certain hairdressers for years. I was happy going there. Then my hairdresser left.

As my hairdresser had left the owner (who does work there too) did my hair, it was really nice, but when they recruited a new stylist they persuaded me to use the new person.

Unfortunately she was awful, wrecked my hair more than once, didn't listen, gave me bright orange hair, in the end I stopped going there. Then she left too.

I tried a new salon which was fine, but really fancied having the owner of the original hairdressers do my hair as she did it so nice.

I phoned up and the owner answered and asked who usually does my hair, when I said that I hadn't been in for a while but would like X (owner) to do it. She got really blunt with me and said X isn't taking on new customers so wouldn't be getting an appointment with X.

So that was that.

I get that they can see who they like, it's her business so I suppose she can do as she pleases, but isn't that a poor way to treat a customer?

The message was put across to you in a brusque and rude way. That’s wrong. But there could be plenty of good reasons. X might be ill ? Or selling the business? Or have a sick child ?

Small businesses are not perfect.
