Scrounging toddler!

She’s adorbs, but OMG. I have to hide if I want to eat anything! I swear to god she hears the cutlery drawer open from the living room and toddles through with her mouth already open!

She has her tea at nursery. Comes home and scrounges half of my older girls tea! She cannot surely be hungry. She gets plenty to eat!

Is this normal? Is it likely that she is hungry??

@donkeyhotei. That was uncalled for....

kindnessreins · 06/12/2018 20:20

I can see some mother of the years commenting a little bit cruellly...
I also have a toddler who sounds so very much like yours, bloody beautiful but can eat like a horse, I cannot eat a thing myself without her having at least half. I'm putting it down to a growth spurt. Don't be too worried but do find out what tea at nursery includes and how much they actually eat of that...

Thehop · 06/12/2018 20:21

Our nursery tea is a couple of crackers or a breadstick with a bit of cheese or meat and some carrot sticks. It’s literally a snack.

WoahBaby · 06/12/2018 20:24

Feed the child! :) plus seeing others eat always makes me hungry so I'd just go with it. I'm assuming you don't know precisely what she eats in the day?

Vampiratequeen · 06/12/2018 20:32

My DD 4 was exactly like that at nursery, she still is now, all she does is at, she isn't overweight and never has been. She is hungry when she gets home, it's because she runs about and burns it off playing.

Tanaqui · 06/12/2018 20:40

Why not pack her a lighter, snack size tea for nursery and have both children eat dinner together?

itsfuckingxmasnotduckingxmas · 06/12/2018 20:43

She won't be overweight from eating tea. She's a toddler.

MrsImsy1 · 06/12/2018 20:45

My son has breakfast before nursery, breakfast at nursery, eats all of his snacks, has seconds and thirds most days, fourths if they have made garlic bread for lunch, eats his tea there and then has a full dinner and big yogurt when he comes home.

Some children just need a lot of food, my son is three, some days he eats more than I do, I've no idea where he puts it, he's so long and lean. Busy toddlers burn a lot of energy! No harm in giving her something else to eat and seeing if that helps.

Willow1992 · 06/12/2018 21:01

My son's nursery tea was a very small meal like others describe at about 4.15. Not enough to last until breakfast next morning.

lily2403 · 06/12/2018 21:03

She’s hungry, nursery tea is snacky. Sounds adorable

MyKingdomForBrie · 06/12/2018 21:08

Oh @Sashkin that breaks my heart he only wants a little bit of cheese! How can you say no when he asks so sweetly?! Grin

Sashkin · 06/12/2018 21:45

Little bit? He would happily eat the entire block!

At least it is a good way of getting other food down him. That soup? Yes darling there’s cheese in it. Pasta? Full of cheese, eat it up GrinGrin

blackteasplease · 06/12/2018 21:58

I would feed her too! I've never thought of nursery tea as dinner. Its just a light snack!

donquixotedelamancha · 06/12/2018 21:59

My two did this. They just like being fed. They like the being fussed over and they get hungry if they don't snack between meals. They grow out of it.

I really would not be worrying that a toddler might be eating too much.
