Vego bar is blooming lovely!

Rosalise · 05/12/2018 23:05

Most dark chocolate is vegan. Just look for the ones with the fewest ingredients. Dairy should be highlighted as a possible allergen so it's easy to avoid. My favourite's Willie's. Yes honestly.

Cheekyandfreaky · 05/12/2018 23:05

The Moo free are the best ‘milk’ choc imo but I’m a super fan of M&S gianduja and vego bars. Also love om bars. If you like dark choc like I do, there are so many options as most are accidentally vegan.

Also big shout out for vego hazelnut paste- I literally took bread sticks to it and treated it like a gluttonous choc dip (Nutella is nothing compared to it).

adultcat · 05/12/2018 23:06

The Vego bar is good (and the m&s equivalent) if you like hazelnuts. I don't like the own brand supermarket ones, taste cheap and nasty! I like plain chocolate though and most are dairy free. Hotel Chocolat do some amazing ones. Booja Booja is also gooooood but pricey!

MarklahMarklah · 05/12/2018 23:07

There's a lot of accidentally vegan dark chocolate out there. For milk and white chocolate you need to source more specialist stuff.

Branleuse · 05/12/2018 23:08

Asda free from chocolate orange buttons are good.

Racecardriver · 05/12/2018 23:09

Hotel chocolat has a good selection.

Crema · 05/12/2018 23:10

Ooooh okay I got a hotel chocolat gift card through the post today! I'll have a look. Thanks all! I went totally dairy free this morning and struggling with all the Christmas goodies in the house :(

Holland and Barrett have a buy two get one free on the vegan Christmas selection Star

TheFivePointPalmHeartOfTafiti · 05/12/2018 23:14

My aunt is diary free and loves Hotel Chocolat, they have a decent selection of dark chocolate

Kokapetl · 05/12/2018 23:14

Montezuma's vegan chocolates are my favourite. A bit tricky to find though.

Cautionsharpblade · 05/12/2018 23:15

Just about all good quality dark chocolate is vegan so you’re spoiled for choice.

As pps have said, Vego bars are delicious. The M&S gianduja ones are similar and slightly cheaper. These are more like milk chocolate. The Vego spread (Holland and Barrett) is amazing.

Rhythm 101 bars are good, (Sainsbury’s free from aisle), my favourite are the salted almond. Booja Booja are good but too expensive for me. For white chocolate iChoc bars are the best I’ve had, esp the hazelnut crisp one.

For something cheaper Fry’s bars are great as is Bournville choc Orange (Poundland/Iceland). Or mint thins that are similar to After Eights (Sainsbury/Asda own brand).

Avoid the supermarket stuff like Moo or own brand, it’s pretty bland and greasy.

Unihorn · 05/12/2018 23:15

I've swapped over to dark chocolate since going dairy free and there's plenty of choice.

Cautionsharpblade · 05/12/2018 23:16

Almost forgot - raspberry ruffles!

nellieellie · 05/12/2018 23:16

Green and black plain chocolate. For a treat, Booja booja chocolates are simply the best chocolates EVER. The champagne truffles are perfect. I’m not vegan any more but these are my favourites now and forever.....

Elphie54 · 05/12/2018 23:18

Any particular reason you went dairy free? If not for ethical reasons or health reasons you may want to wait until after the holiday season.

Zintox · 05/12/2018 23:18

Ichoc and Booja Booja are great as is Tesco own dark orange chocolate bar. Waitrose do some lovely single origin dark chocolate bars too.

Ruralretreating · 05/12/2018 23:22

Booja Booja and some Green & Blacks Velvet bars. M&S Swiss Dark Chocolate.

Crema · 05/12/2018 23:26

@Elphie54 doctors orders I am afraid! My DS has a skin rash and projectile vomiting etc. Ruled out the nasty stuff so advised to cut out dairy!

@IamaBluebird ooooh thank you!

I have £50 M&S vouchers and I'm tempted to literally spend all of it on chocolate....

deeplybaffled · 05/12/2018 23:39

I feel your pain. DS also has a dairy allergy so I’m dairy free for the foreseeable.
If soya is ok, then Fry’s chocolate cream is good, as are Whittaker’s mint crisps. Oreos and Bourbon biscuits are dairy free too, as are the banana protein bites that graze do.
But if you find a good replacement for cheese, do tell!
(And apologies if this sounds patronising, but do check labels carefully - really odd things can include milk products, including some wines!)

LoniceraJaponica · 05/12/2018 23:44

Booja Booja chocolate is lush
