To ask what unusual things you have at Christmas

We all know the usual turkey, roasties, Christmas jumpers etc people do for Christmas, but is there anything your family do or have that's a bit odd?

Me? My mum was Canadian so we always had both mash and roast with Christmas dinner. And spinach. Husband thinks I'm nuts as I'm the only one who eats them.

Also, we always have these special potatoes my mum used to make which are basically jackets, scooped out, mixed with philly and sprinkled with paprika and popped back in the oven. Outsiders to my family end up total converts when they have them with our Boxing Day meals (the far superior Christmas meal).

Also, one present opened at a time, in order, delivered by the "postman". My mil always tries to make us open presents at the same time when she pops over, gives me major anxiety. Grin

Those special jackets sound lovely! Well I'm English and DH is Aussie and we live in Australia. Here people still hang onto the traditional turkey and all that...so even though it's hot, most people wouldn't consider no roasties or turkey because it's what they were given as kids by their ten pound pom parents!

I feel unusual in going back to work before New Year, being in an office environment.

Chicken Grin I've never seen anybody else have chicken at Christmas, it's always turkey or beef

@IACGMOOH my husband only started having turkey with me. They always had chicken or a capon.

We have roasts and mash on christmas day, sunday too and we're from the north. We just love potatoes Grin. In our family gifts are opened at once but family by family. So one sister will hand out her gifts and everyone opens, then another and so on.

Sausage or bacon sandwiches are handed out for breakfast as people walk in on the morning so when you ask anyone in my family what they think of when they think of christmas it's sausage sandwiches. We also always have Turkey and Beef for Christmas day.
