to find Matt Baker really annoying?

rarely do I post anything like this but I just find him a PITA.

He milks his northern accent for all its worth (I was brought up near his home) and it's def a bit 'put on' for someone who's educated and lived down south for years.

He says he was brought up on a sheep farm- what a joke. His parents had a corner shop while he was a lad and now his mum has a garden ( a very small plot) with a handful of sheep.

I just find him a bit of a fraud.

He's not a "Northerner" he's a "Southerner".

Northern English maybe but in British terms he's a "Southerner"!

I don’t really understand your accent point.

I’ve lived for 15 years in Liverpool and have a degree but my accent is still the same Home Counties one I grew up with

I really like him. He is kind and genuine. Perhaps because the world is full of nasty people he sticks out because of his sheer niceness. As others have said the way he is with the Rickshaw Challenge kids is lovely and encouraging. We could do with a few more Matts in the world and on tv.

I remember him from a reality programme featuring celebs showjumping. Sara Cox was on it too (she seems like a genuine lass too). The horse he was given became ill so Matt went and sat with him in his stable. The horse who was lying down moved so his head was lying across Matt's boot. That has always stuck in my mind, it was a lovely moment.

I can't comment on his accent, seems genuine enough to me. My DH is from the same neck of the woods and his voice is not dissimilar. I like the way he says "good lad" and "super" a lot. If I had a grown up son I would like him to be just like Matt.

I really like Alex Jones and Christine Lampard too.

His parents did start out with a small holding but bought a farm when he was about 10.
Seriously don't get what your problem is with him - he seems like a canny lad 😁

I like him more than most mainstream TV presenters, actually. I'm also educated and from Northern England and have lived down South for a good couple of decades and I still have a Northern English accent.

I haven’t watched country file since Matt baker joined as I find him terribly boring but I did enjoy watching him on strictly generally I find that bbc and itv use the same people over and over again and they just become terribly boring they need a big shake up ! ……. The same presenters and newscasters have just been on far too long and quite frankly are overpaid I don’t understand why they earn so much !

as someone who had worked for the nhs all my working life I did not have paid transport into work ……free meals in lovely locations or restaurants ……or nicely decorated changing rooms …….I did not even get a free cup of tea !

I like him - he seems like a really nice bloke and obviously very passionate about farming.

Helen Skelton on the other hand is perhaps the most irritating northern presenter on TV. I have to turn it off when she’s on.

I like Matt Baker. I don’t really notice his accent, maybe because I only come across him in gymnastics commentary where his accent pales next to Craig Heap!

He's actually one of the very few presenters who I like. In fact, I can't think of any others at the moment.

I think he's a breath of fresh air, just really nice, down to earth and normal. Unlike many of the Me Me Me presenters.

I mean, you're entitled to your own opinions but I don't think a bit of kindness would go amiss here. If he's not done anything offensive or personally nasty to you then I'm not sure why you'd feel the need to post something like this, really.

I like Adam, I find him interesting on the occasions I watch a bit of Country file. I believe he talked to a local WI group some years back and was very popular with the ladies. 😄

Charlie Ross on Bargain Hunt is lovely. Doesn’t take himself seriously at all. Natasha Raskin Sharp is also lovely.

I just don't know why he gets so much work- the one show every night almost (I never watch) and Countryfile plus other stuff in between. I find him too 'grinny' and perhaps insincere with his 'I'm such a nice guy' and he is economical with the truth over his upbringing ( ie on a 'farm'.)

Are you job hunting? the rest of your complaint is bollocky nonsense but you know that, right?
