I can hear mice in my walls all day long in every room I go in.
Since July I've caught 10.
One was just dead on my kitchen floor and one day I walked in my kitchen and a baby mouse was in the sink
If I can hear them in every room it's bad isn't it ?

Yes, it's bad. You have to all an exterminator and deal with this before they destroy your house.

pattypatta · 04/12/2018 16:59

I live in a multi storey building so I don't even know how they could treat it.
It's not just mine,it's most residents in the building

Do you live in my building? We have mice in the walls...

bridgetreilly · 04/12/2018 17:03

Call the council.

pattypatta · 04/12/2018 17:05

I wouldn't be surprised ha ha
Council have said they've got someone trying to find out the problem (that was August )

We had something behind our living room wall by our sofa for a few days making a real racket scurrying around, it was very scary not knowing what it was and how we'd get it out, if it would get out!

We had one of those ultrasonic plug in pest deterrent things (not a cheap one), we plugged it into the socket by that wall, pressed it a few times to emit that sound and GONE! No more noises... maybe worth a try although your problem does sound like it needs professional help. Urgh one in the sink!,

TwoBlueFish · 04/12/2018 17:27

I would maybe contact environmental health. If it’s been ongoing since August and nothing has been done. Is it a council owned builiding? If it’s not then the management company should be sorting it.

pattypatta · 04/12/2018 21:59

I dread to think how many are in the walls

ahhhh. happened to me too. couldnt sleep all night was actually sat in my bed crying with a torch and toy lightsaber.(ive no idea what i would have done if i saw it ) I am terrified of them . Luckily eniviro.man came and he set bait boxes. when he came back 1 week later the bait was ate ,never had a problem since . im dreading this winter incase the mouse comes back in .

madmum5811 · 04/12/2018 22:17

They can eat through electrical insulation and cause fires. I would make a call to the Fire Service, that may get things moving.

BMW6 · 04/12/2018 22:26

We had mice and being in a row of terraced houses we have no way of controlling infestation in the other houses.

I got two sonic plug-in repellents and no sign of mice ever since (a year ago now)

Got from Amazon, cost about £25 for the pair.

And make sure they have no access to a single crumb of food. Empty your toaster crumb trays after every use. Seriously.

pattypatta · 05/12/2018 10:08

Thankyou il get one of those plugs
They are horrible little things

RadicalFern · 05/12/2018 10:35

You could also get a cat. Mice don't like houses with cats in and the tribe might move out...

Almostthere15 · 05/12/2018 10:40

I would contact the council again, particularly the environmental health department. At the same time I'd copy in your local councillor. It's been going on too long. I'm not sure the sonic things work but it can't do any harm. Do make sure that every crumb you have is cleaned up and food is stored in plastic containers. Apparently they don't like peppermint oil either so may be worth dotting it around?

Storm4star · 05/12/2018 10:43

Can anyone link the plug they have? I bought one but it doesn't work at all. Still been getting mice. I put traps down and they just avoid them. Poison didn't work, they ate it all but lived! I'm at my wits end with it Sad

RayRayBidet · 05/12/2018 10:43

Make sure there is nothing for them to eat. Put cereals etc in plastic boxes.
Mice are incontinent so if they are crawling in your cupboards etc they are peeing on everything.
I found the old fashioned traps baited with Nutella most effective.
You have my sympathy.

Caprisunorange · 05/12/2018 10:45

This is really difficult in a block because the council/ landlord aren’t responsible for individual flats and if someone in your block isn’t getting their property treated the problem will remain.
Some good suggestions here- as awful as it sounds you just have to make your flat the least attractive to them

twilightcafe · 05/12/2018 10:55

Cats are no guarantee. Mine brings mice in and lets them go.

RandomObject · 05/12/2018 10:55

Be wary of using the sonic in a multi story building. The range is fairly limited, used one downstairs once and all that happened was that they moved upstairs.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/12/2018 10:59

Awwwwwwww ill have them.
I'll pm you my address. Grin.
Sorry not helpful.
If I found a mouse I'd end up picking him up eating him. Squeeeeeeee

CandyCreeper · 05/12/2018 11:17

I dont know why people suggest cats it took 18months for the mice to go in my house and that was even with cats!! 2 infact, they just kept catching them and killing them but the mice wouldnt stop
coming.

metronome1 · 05/12/2018 11:43

Sorry to tell you but if this has been going on for months In a multi story building you will definitely have a very big infestation. Mice have very short pregnancies and have lots and lots of babies at a time.
You need professional help. Everyone in the building needs to work together at the same time or it is worthless. Mice can get through a hole the size of a 10p.
First clean up every crumb of food. Take the fruit bowl off the table. Everything needs to be in boxes. Then you need good quality plug ins. They don't go through furniture etc so if you have big rooms you need a few. I'd get one to go in every room. Then you need 100% pure peppermint oil (eBay) put it on cotton wool around where you can hear them. I also used it as floor cleaner and in my hoover. My house stunk like a mint but it's not a horrible smell I suppose. Then you need the exterminator to put down poison and keep coming back every week,at least, to change it. A good exterminator should look where they are getting in and tell you how to address this. You can fill in all the small holes in you house with wire wool and decorators cork.
It's seems ott written down but it's the only way. I lived with a very bad infestation for 3 years and this whole lot was the only thing that helped. I got a cat too and it did work but I know that's not the case all the time.
They did come back and eventually I moved as I couldn't take it anymore. What the problem was is that I lived in a terrace and next door didn't care. When the moved just before me the buyer knocked on my door to ask if I'd had a mouse problem. He said that there were 100 + mouse nests in the loft next door. He had never seen an infestation like it he said and he was a builder. I did try talk to my old neighbor but they didn't care. Awful.
I'm terrified of mice. They ate everything. Whole packs of nappies. My kids teddies. I ended up unable to sleep because I had a newborn and found droppings in the cot.
So glad I moved.

metronome1 · 05/12/2018 11:46

Also make sure your bath panel is secure they love it under baths.
Get poison under the cupboards in the kitchen and close any holes there.

madmum5811 · 05/12/2018 11:50

Some more advice.

@Awwlookatmybabyspider
You wouldn't eat it, they are crawling with fleas, at least the ones we had were
