Your book character is here on AIBU! This can be from any book you have read or are currently reading.
Only rules:
DO reference the book you are referring to because there are so many out there.
Choose the character that's most likely to get pulled apart for this unreasonableness.
I will do mine in the below post.

Honeylulu Don’t mislead the poor chap. Try parenting Estelle instead of using her to get your revenge on men. And be careful around naked flames......

Prestonsflowers · 04/12/2018 23:26

@KnightlyMyMan
There was no implication, it’s all your own fault.
Your own father, God rest his soul, said that if wimp had proposed like all the others then you would have dumped him.
Scarlett Katie O’Hara you’ve always wanted what you can’t have,
Wear the Dress tonight that matches your name and wait for your saintly SIL to rescue because you own husband won’t accompany you.

arranbubonicplague · 04/12/2018 23:31

Seriously annoyed with my mater
For playing around on my pater.
Revenge Dad or not,
Is the gist of my plot

And I did, nine soliloquies later.

Hamlet (OK, not a novel but even so)

brizzledrizzle · 04/12/2018 23:31

@waterbird they went to war and met a pirate but alls well that ends well

recklessruby · 04/12/2018 23:40

Aibu to be sick and tired of Melanie acting so frail and weak and winning Ashley Wilkes heart? I m so much stronger and more attractive but he treats me as a friend! I squeeze myself into this horrible corset so I have an 18 inch waist and he barely looks at me! He's too busy fawning over boring weak colourless Melanie.
Aibu to realise I m not actually in love with Ashley later on and want Rhett back but he's buggered off coz he doesn't give a damn.
Grrr men. Tomorrow is another day and at least I 've got my fantastic house left.
Gone with the wind. Scarlett o hara.

WaterBird · 05/12/2018 01:10

OK, so I'm probably not going to get any replies, at least not for a very long time, because I am one of the first of mankind, and by the time people read my post I will probably be dead. But...
AIBU? My wife was visited by the devil and persuaded to eat fruit from a tree that we both knew we shouldn't eat from. I ate one as well because she did.
We live in a very lovely place called the Garden of Eden. We are now being asked to leave.
AIBU to feel that my wife and I shouldn't have to leave this paradise? And AIBU to think that when you love someone you do whatever they're supposed to do?

AIBU to have killed my dad? Please RTFT before posting.
I feel terrible but, you see, I couldn't think of any other options.
I live in Rome, and he was going to become the new Roman ruler, but I felt that he would be too much of a dictator.
But AIBU not to take responsibility and say it was my friend Cassius's fault? After all, I still idolise him.
(Shakespeare, Julius Caesar)

YANBU to feel such sorrow at having to leave well, Paradise.

You were very unwise not to have read your tenancy contract thoroughly tho' it sounds like you admit that you know you were in the wrong with your actions?

You are in for a lifetime of evictions if you continue to have your decisions made by a snake in the grass. Maybe you might want to read:

Or, more optimistically:

Oh, that was meant to be Brutus from Shakespeare Julius Caesar.

AIBU to kill this priest? He's annoying me. And after all, I've killed priests before and got away with it. I'm known for it. It does irritate the king but he forgives me because I kill lots of people for him. Even though most of them are people I like more than him. I have killed many mighty men for I am a mighty warrior, a lord of war. And this priest keeps calling me a pagan, which I am, but he's a total earsling so I want to kill him. AIBU?

@ArranBubonicplague
Oh my God, you have replied to me!! Does this mean that there are more humans in the universe?? Is there something that God and the angels Rafael and Michael aren't telling me??
Also, do you understand love at all?? You do realise that Eve and I were meant to do everything together, no? Whoever wrote this book on co-dependence (another human!) has clearly never experienced love before.

There's nothing shameful about being a servant, as this site is for anyone. That being said, you really need to get a backbone.

Mama is such a religious bore, I think I hate her but I feel so beholden to her and full of guilt. So I have a tendency to be rather charming and flamboyant to compensate as well as drink an awful lot of champagne. Everybody is utterly charmed by myself and my family, even the servants. Charles is the only one the understands me, he even came to Venice with me to meet Papa. I am starting to get slightly worried that he is falling in love with my sister Julia. Oh why do my family end up monopolizing all my friends? If it wasn't for Rex rescuing me I most likely would've gone to prison for 6 months for driving drunk. Mummy is being such a martyr about the whole thing it's excruciating!

IdaBWells · 05/12/2018 02:07

Do you think I am reasonable or AIBU and a CFer?

Taytotots · 05/12/2018 02:32

AIBU to go to A&E? DS has both wheezles and sneezles and we're worried it might be measles or mumps or even phtheezles. However, last time this happened he was unexpectedly completely recovered in the morning.

Ok not a novel - Sneezles by A.A. Milne.

My wife died a few years ago in an accident and I've always felt a bit guilty about it, though friends say I should probably blame my boss for being a perfectionist. I mean, he is a bit of a lunatic and has a habit that can make him dangerous, he tried to kill my daughter once, but he was nowhere near my house when my wife died, so I can't see how he's at fault.
Anyway, my daughter has always been a bit against me having a new relationship. I understand it's hard for her, losing her mother as a teenager. Out of respect for her feelings, I've tried to avoid relationships. I've had a few one night stands, it's only natural when I'm away with work. But, she seems a little happier since she met the "daughter" of one of my friends. They're always going shopping and on holidays.
So a woman who's quite a bit older than me has recently moved into the spare bedroom. She's only just arrived from Russia to work for my boss and needed somewhere to stay. She gets on with my daughter and I'm quite attracted to her. I think she likes me, but I'm scared to ask.
WIBU to start a relationship with her or should I not mix business and pleasure?
(Anton Troyes from Double Life)

AIBU about colleague? A few years ago a group of us took over a local business and established it on new co-operative lines. The others are all quite idealistic and airy-fairy with no business sense so I've had to step up and take responsibility for the planning and the accounting and so on because frankly nothing would have happened otherwisea nd we would have gone bust . It's been hard work, but I've finally got to a stage where we are profitable and have been accepted into the local community. One of my colleagues is now talking about retiring and wants the company to provide a pension. We did originally talk about setting up a company pension scheme, but we haven't yet and I think we're still at the stage when we should be investing our profits back in the business and the current workers, Frankly too , this colleague worked hard originally but hadn't pulled his weight for some years now so I've got plenty grounds for dismissal on the grounds of ineffectiveness. In short, I know IANBU to send Boxer to the knackers.

sashh · 05/12/2018 05:31

I'm an assistant DA.

My son is showing signs of abuse and there's DNA evidence it's the local priest.

As an ADA I know the system and don't want to put my child through a court case.

AIBU to fein temporary insanity and kill him? I mean I couldn't possibly kill an innocent man could I?

I'm a teacher (of a particularly difficult and complex subject, excelled at only by the most dedicated and gifted students, I might add) at a rather... unique...school, and this year I started teaching MY school bullies son. Said insufferable boy is 11 and looks and acts just like his arrogant father...except for his lovely green eyes...AIBU to treat him like crap and to my best to make his experience in my classroom as horrible as possible?

Also, I promised the Headmaster that I would protect him, but the boy seems to have a death wish. Would I be unreasonable to just let him off himself through his own stupidity?

Oh, I should probably add that said boy is an orphan and I'm kind of responsible for his parents death.

Oh, and also his mother was my high school crush and I've never really gotten over her.

Snape Harry Potter series

OP posts:

Oh! Was just about to ask what book that was from! I'm ashamed to say that I never finished reading the Harry Potter series.
So James Potter was actually Snape's bully? (The latter definitely seemed to deserve it!)

Yes. Of course Snape was also abused by his parents, and a rather awkward child, so I'm not sure if deserved it would be the words I would use.
