To leave a crate of beer for the bin men?

For Christmas?

Mum and Dad always left a crate of beer on top of the bin for the bin men at Christmas. I do the same but struck me it might be a bit old fashioned now. I think Dad thought they would have a tin or two on their round but that wouldn’t happen nowadays. And lots of people are now more into micro beers/kombucha/man buns/small batch gin rather that a tin or two of Stella.

If I AM BU, what else can I leave that’s not edible (foxes, and eating with binny hands must surely be a no-no) but easily shared? There a quite a few blokes on the crew.

I absolutely love our binmen. And they work really hard! I will be leaving them some beers this year now op. Bin men around Britain will be raising a glass to @HTKS Grin

We'd never give anything to people we don't know inside out if we had to consider ever potential pitfall. One of the bin men could be vegan/diabetic/allergic to dairy/gluten intolerant, so don't give anything edible. Don't give cash - one of them could be addicted to gambling. Don't give cans - one of them might mistakenly think that only lowly people have them.

Alternatively, assume most people would have the sense to gracefully accept the gift and the intention it's given with, and then share it out with colleagues and family if it isn't suitable for them.

Give them the cans. It's a practical way to give a small token that can be easily divvied up amongst a team.

@chatwoo it was really sweet! It was a rural area so she would run over the fields to the neighbours to get her extra biscuits! When she got a bit old for following the lorry they still gave her extra biscuits!

@Cakeandmarshmallows love it, cheeky devil, and kind hearted binmen!

If I left a crate of beer out with my bins it would be gone in 5 minutes! Nice idea though op
