To go back to GP

Posted on general health but thought I might have a better chance of a reply sorry!

I've been having this pain on my right side going round my back the last couple of months. I went to the doctors recently (I have muscle separation with a suspected hernia, consultant appointment pending, however the pain isn t where the suspected hernia is, just thought I'd mention) and she's referred me for an ultrasound to see if it's a cyst and recommended ibuprofen in the mean time.

I'm early 20s, with children. I'm absolutely exhausted and can't stop weeing (it's like being pregnant again) I'm super bloated but can't tell if that's just the muscle separation or not, or I've been snacking too much! Although everywhere else on my body is pretty skinny. Reflux has started too.

In the past couple of days the pain has amped up. I have been taking co-codomol and laying with a hot water bottle and it's still hurting and keeping me up. I've not been able to go to work the past couple of days and am pretty sure I won't be in tomorrow. It's gotten much worse tonight I've actually started crying and couldn't concentrate on I'm a celeb (boo)

Anyway I'm just wondering if it would be unreasonable to go back to the doctors? I'm worried I'm just wasting time and will tell me to wait till my ultrasound in 2 weeks.

Sorry for the long rambling post, took all the codomol I'm aloud and am sleep deprived. Thank you for any advice!!

Aww bless you it sounds awful. It might be a kidney infection which is so painful so I would defo go back to your GP ask them for some stronger analgesia to get you through to your scan appointment. Is it painful to pass urine? Sounds like a kidney infection or severe UTI I hope you feel better real soon especially with Xmas looming.

redhotbellpeppers · 02/12/2018 23:59

@Nothininmenoggin thank you for replying! No pain passing urine and there's a fair amount Grin with my past UTIs there's usually been tiny amounts and a bit of blood and that awful stinging but I've had none of that. Will ask for urine test to be sure though! So bloody painful I'm crying even with codomol! If it is I didn't know they could be this painful Shock Booo!

Oh I wonder if it's a grumbling appendix?? If you do have a UTI they can be extremely painful especially if tracking back up to your kidney. Are your bowel habits ok, not constipated? Defo try to see gp as soon as you can. Co codamol are usually pretty good painkillers and if they aren't touching it you can't be expected to be like this for 2 weeks till scan appt. I hope you can call on some help with your children while you are poorly. Let me know how you get on at the docs. It's horrible being in such pain I really hope you get some answers and feel better in time for Xmas so you can enjoy with your kidsSmile

garethsouthgatesmrs · 03/12/2018 00:20

hi sorry to post this but some of your symptoms are those of ovarian cancer. It's highly likely to be something else but I would definitely go back to the GP with your symptoms.

NoThankyouHun · 03/12/2018 00:21

I had similar was a kidney infection terribly painful and I had no problems weeing so the 2 don't go hand in hand. GP tomorrow definitely not even sure why you're asking. Clearly YANBU

Gallstones?

redhotbellpeppers · 03/12/2018 00:30

@Nothininmenoggin thanks so much! Will go gp and get the test done tomorrow, fingers crossed for a quick recovery for Xmas shopping. Lovely DH is lookin after the kids whilst I lay in bed with hot water bottle !

@NoThankyouHun I never knew kidney infections could hurt this bad! Will bite the bullet and see GP tomorrow. I get anxiety and as I only went the other day about this, I get worried they're just going to turn around and be like, you where here the other day go home and take painkillers! I get worried I'm overreacting at times.

@garethsouthgatesmrs that did pop up on google, but as I'm in my early 20s I thought I'm too young to get this?

@victoriaspongecake I just googled this and I don't match most of the symptoms (place of the pain, fever etc) so don't think it's this?

Could have written this post myself ! Identical symptoms for the past 6 weeks and no closer to any answers unfortunately ! I plan to revisit GP when i can get another appt !

Osirus · 03/12/2018 00:53

I did respond to your post in GH but what I said has been covered here.

Just as it’s been mentioned, it is highly unlikely you have ovarian cancer. The symptoms for OC are the same for many other common, far less serious conditions. That’s why it’s often diagnosed as such a late stage. But, being young is not a barrier to cancer - it’s very rare when you are young but not impossible. My friend had ovarian cancer at 21 (she recovered).

What is it with everyone coming onto mumsnet with should I see a doctor? It just seems recently these threads are everywhere. This isn't the place for any sort of medical advice at all! If you feel unwell, see a doctor or speak to a medical professional. No one here can diagnose you with anything or make a decision about you seeing a doctor or not. It's not an awfully hard decision to make alone as an adult really.

redhotbellpeppers · 03/12/2018 01:04

@BitOfAKerfuffle oh I really hope you get some answers soon it's awful isn't i. Please reply back if you get any answers!

@Osirus thanks for replying on my other lonely post Grin ah I see, I always assumed it was only after the menopause . I'm having an ultrasound on my cysts in 2 weeks so I assume that will give some kind of indication? The pain is getting really intense so will drag myself down to GP tomorrow. Fingers crossed sample comes back quickly, this pain is horrendous and I've had 2 labours with no pain relief!

@MrsRyanGosling15 I'm not asking for a diagnosis. As I've mentioned before, I have anxiety, so the support of making desisions really helps when you're worried about over reacting ,it helps talking to people to make you level headed and make balanced decisions . HTH
