Need to be rude to shop workers specially the person behind the till. On doing my shopping today waiting for my turn the lady in front was so rude to the cashier for no reason other than she was a bit slow but this was not aldi this was morrisons.
I work in retail to and have come across rude nasty customers and company's think that the staff should sit and take it. Why should someone who's helping a customer be sworn at while doing there job. Do these people who like to be ride have no morals as I bet they wouldn't do that to someone in the street.

So can people not be rude to staff in shops were here to help you not get abuse thrown at us. Of course if the staff member is being rude then report to a manager but overall its customers who are the ones with a attitude problem

I was that assistant once upon a time.

From behind a till in supermarkets to measuring cloth and calculating pattern repeats for curtains in department stores.

My life!

There is a certain element in society, who have to belittle others in order to make themselves feel better.

There are some who come in spoiling for a fight and decide that you're 'It'.

There are some who genuinely resent having to be there and take it out on you.

I could never be a waitress.

Having access to sharp implements would be the death of the first arsehole who tried it on.

That’s nice but it’s likely that a supervisor is already involved.

I find that people are almost incapable of being polite to those they perceive to be young/stupid. I was recently referred to as a “stupid teenage checkout girl” by a middle aged man. I have not been a teenager for over a decade. Nor am I a cashier. I’m not particularly stupid either, as it goes.

The general public are in fact, an unpleasant bunch.

I often wish people have the day they deserve rather than having a nice one. Sometimes I wonder how far away they get from the shop before it sinks in Smile

I’m a manager in a quick service restaurant. If my crew receive abuse off customers they are politely and firmly told their behaviour is unacceptable and that they need to leave. If they have already paid I refund them.

I have a duty of care to my crew; they are there to work, not to be abused, and I won’t put up with it.

.....as I bet they wouldn't do that to someone in the street.

Yes, they would. If you are an arsehole, then you are an arsehole wherever you happen to be standing.

Yeah it’s a shit part of the service industry. I am so glad not to do retail now. I watched some fuckwit in ASDA be really awful. She wanted to try on an outfit but the changing rooms were closed as it was 9pm. She marched up to first member of staff (not from the George department) and aggressively demanded they open the changing room. They apologised that they couldn’t do so so she screeched ‘well fuck you I’m making a fucking complaint about you you fucking cunt!’ As she walked off she called them an arsehole. I did my shopping as she was over making a show of herself at customer services. When I finished shopping she had gone back to whatever rock she had crawled out from. I went over to customer services and told them the real story that the staff member had been polite and courteous and basically the woman was just an arse.

Similarly though I have had to complain in the past. One guy was so determined to fire my shopping through at warp speed he overcharged me. Two packs of steak with 50pence difference, one wouldn’t scan so he scanned the higher price item twice. I stopped him and got a supervisor to do a refund. Yes it’s 50pence but it was the principle. Another time was in Tesco just before Christmas. Got to the checkout and the woman was nasty and aggressive. I handed my club card vouchers over and she snapped ‘clubcard!’ Rather than ‘could I have the card as well please. No please no thanks and glowering at us!

I went to my local Morrisons to use their 'Doddle' service for returning packages to Amazon. The staff member kept huffing and puffing about having to print out the form and put the item in a bag (took seconds) and then she snarled at me that I won't get a receipt as there isn't one to give!
Have no idea if I'll ever get a refund from Amazon now! She could have pinched my package for all I know.

That’s when you say ‘can you get me your manager please?’ It works both ways.
