To be devastated about this

I’ve suffered with PMT since I was a teenager (it may even be PMDD). It’s horrendous

I breastfed my dc for as long as I could for many reasons but a big factor was keeping periods away which it usually did for first year
This time I was also on cerazette to help and my pmt and periods are back and it’s only 8 months
I am so upset. I honestly thought bf and the pill would help
I can’t have combined pill and I don’t know what else I could do but I can’t cope with it I wanted a break for longer than this

Can you not take the pill you take all the time? I take it I'll be honest I don't know the difference between them all but it's fab not having periods.

tealandteal · 02/12/2018 18:08

Just seen you can't have combined pill, what about the implant?

MissMalice · 02/12/2018 18:09

Coil?

butitwasmeanttohelp · 02/12/2018 18:11

I take it every day the gp said I might have no periods, periods, or irregular bleeding but I’m getting a regular cycle complete with the usual horrendous pmt
It’s just crying then rage then crying again, feeling starving then shaky, angry again it’s just awful

I think the coil and implant are also progesterone I’m assuming they wouldn’t be any better ? I’d try anything I’m desperate
I need a decent contraception but also something to help pmt
I honestly thought bf plus mini pill that there was no way this would happen but it worries me too I’m having a regular cycle ? Is the cerazette actually working as it should I take it same time each day without fail

Mine came back after 28 days Confused

Winegumaddict · 02/12/2018 18:19

I can't help with PMT etc but I had periods on the mini pill but I don't with the mirena coil.

LakieLady · 02/12/2018 18:21

Please go back to your GP. If it is PMDD, there are now medications that can help and that are specifically targeted at PMDD.

mummymayhem18 · 02/12/2018 18:25

I've been on Cerazette for years and haven't had a drop of blood since. I have no cycle whatsoever x

ThatOneHurt · 02/12/2018 18:30

I found out that a low dose of citalopram is excellent for PMDD.

I originally took it for depression when my best friend died, then noticed it helped my PMT/PMDD significantly so I reduced it right down (because I was no longer depressed so didn't need the dose fit for depression) and stayed on it just to fix my PMDD.

I'm off it now because I'm pregnant and will be breast feeding but the second my periods come back I will be back on it.

For me, the combined pill is like having PMT all the time. It's awful. I can't cope with any hormone contraceptive at all.

Racecardriver · 02/12/2018 18:32

Try the IUD. It works better for some women because it is more localised.

heather1 · 02/12/2018 18:35

I had terrible terrible PMS. Went to Dr Maryon Stewart (Telefone consutation) and using diet, supplements and exercise totally got rid of the pmt. worth a try? Google her she has a website

JKCR2017 · 02/12/2018 18:44

I have the Mirena coil and it has completely stopped my periods!! I do however get pmt every month despite not actually bleeding but it’s not as bad compared to before the Mirena.

butitwasmeanttohelp · 02/12/2018 19:02

Thanks I will do some more googling and make a gp appt. I just can’t cope like this it’s unbear

Unbearable

Try the depo injection, this is one of the best for stopping periods. Not sure why someone has suggested the IUD? Unlike the Mirena IUS it contains no hormones and is likely to make your periods heavier as well, I would avoid.

Fatted · 02/12/2018 19:07

I bled constantly on cerazette so wasn't on it long. I've started taking the injection because of terrible heavy periods. Thought it would stop my bleeding because it did last time I had it. I bled twice on the first injection and have been bleeding like a normal period recently.

It does seem to be very hit and miss regarding stopping periods. The only thing that completely stopped my periods was taking the combined pill back to back without a break.

Lilmisskittykat · 02/12/2018 19:33

I was going to come and say depo but see someone has suggested it.

With me this totally stopped my periods and flatlined my mood ( although it did have a bit of a negative effect on my affection/sex drive) think that was part of the flatlining of emotions. I just suddenly was able to cope with everything really rationally...

Actually thinking of going back on it to get through a particularly turbulent period as my pmt is making things so much harder to handle

ThatOneHurt · 02/12/2018 19:36

I bled constantly on cerazette so wasn't on it long.

Me too. It was horrifically heavy as well, and that's coming from someone who's periods are very heavy (changing an extra super plus tampon hourly on my heaviest day) as well.

CreativeMumma · 02/12/2018 19:55

I just wanted to say thank you for posting, it's something I'm struggling with and your post has made me realise I should keep trying to get it sorted.
