AIBU over cleaner expectations?

I have a cleaner coming next week, as a one off but maybe will make it a monthly event. They are coming for 4 hours. I have a house that I can keep on top of day to day but struggle since we upsized a few months ago to do the deep cleaning stuff hence the cleaner. I'll have it tidy so they don't need to waste time doing that. House is not in a bad state at all.

So I was thinking I'd want the cleaner to do:
Windows (inside)
Skirtings and high dusting.
1 bathroom, one shower room, a downstairs loo. (not mouldy etc just in need of the weekly clean). One other shower room if they think they'll have time
Hoover and dust 2 bedrooms and a landing and stairs
Mop and dust downstairs - living room, small hall, family room and kitchen
Clean kitchen, excluding oven, again kitchen not excessively grubby. Not expecting them to clean in cupboards or fridge, is that usual?

My plan was to make a list in order of priority and ask them to work down it as far as they can in the time? Never been lucky enough to afford/need a cleaner before so not sure what to expect. My friend, who has never had a cleaner, says this is completely excessive and I shouldn't expect them to clean more than the windows and skirtings in 4 hours, maybe one bathroom?

Appreciate this is a very nice dilemma to have.

So up to 4 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, hall, stairs and landing, one kitchen, and 2 receptions, all dusted, vacuumed, mopped, skirtings and windows? Yes I think that is a bit much tbh, I think for such an in depth clean in a house that hasn’t been professionally cleaned before id concentrate on maybe just bathrooms, kitchen and windows or skirtings but that’s ten rooms if you include hall etc as one, she may be a bit Hmm

That's fine! I was really not expecting her to get through it all though, just making a list and see how far they get with it... I just expected more than windows and skirting in that time.
I'll def take the 4th bathroom off the list though cos it's not a priority. Thanks.

Cleaners tend to clean by room (ime) then do the vacuuming and mopping of all areas at the end but but I meant all bathrooms and kitchen plus windows or skirting on top, people always underestimate how long it takes to properly clean out a bathroom and kitchens if they include tiles, cupboards fronts etc but can be time consuming

What we did when we started was have a deep clean which took two 2.5 hour sessions, then every fortnight she does a full clean and deep on one area. That also takes 2.5h. Sounds like your place is twice the size of ours, so...

Go for enough sessions to complete a deep clean, then at least one or two 'whole house' sessions, and then you'll both know how long things take.

In 3 hours per week our cleaner does this excluding windows and only one bathroom plus en suite. She is usually done within the time so empties the dishwasher and washing machine/folds clothes etc.

My cleaner does about 2 1/2 hours. In that time she:-
Dusts, hoovers, cleans the window, folds the laundry, sorts the bed x 2 bedrooms

Cleans the bathroom and mops the floor

Hoovers the hallway

Cleans and mops the porch

Dust, hoovers, cleans the windows, the living room

Cleans the kitchen surfaces, cleans the windows, cleans the hob, cleans all cupboard doors, mops the floor

Also dusts all mirrors, picture frames etc

She will also do anything else I need. For example my airing cupboard needs sorting, as I had a leak, so the had the plumbers pulling it all out 7 times. So we are doing that together next week.

She is amazing. So quick, so efficient, and I’m not sharing her!!!
