AIBU to be bloody furious at CF

My son and a mate have gone to park to play. Great. They'll be gone another 1/2hr or so. They're the age where they're allowed out together alone but not complete free reign (late primary age).

Txt from mate's mum to say they've gone to town and can I mind their son until they get back because he doesn't have a key.

WTF? I was waiting for my son to get back so we could go out on our bikes. I'm clock watching cos we need to back for plans later this afternoon which I can't do on bikes because it will be getting dark.

You don't just go out and THEN ask someone to mind your kid, unless it's an emergency.

Shall I reply and say "actually, I was planning on going out with DS at midday".

Be assertive and text that you can't mind him or it will mess your own plans up for the day.

BewareOfDragons · 02/12/2018 12:05

Very cheeky. Unless she was rushing someone to A&E, that's just not on.

Has she replied?

She should come straight back and apologise profusely.

DGRossetti · 02/12/2018 12:05

She is actually very sweet, not sure what's got into her.

maybe being sweet is how they get away with it ?

Bluerussian · 02/12/2018 12:06

Just say you have made other plans, which is true, but I don't think it is anything to be so furious about.

AuntMarch · 02/12/2018 12:10

Has she picked him up yet?

cowfacemonkey · 02/12/2018 12:15

God that would piss me off, I can’t imagine going off to town BEFORE I’d checked my 10 year old would have someone to look after him!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 02/12/2018 12:17

Stick to your guns OP, she's bang out of order, also you don't owe her any explanation, other than you have plans of your own.

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 02/12/2018 12:23

I hope you're out riding now!

TheOrigBrave · 02/12/2018 12:30

She came back. We are not cycling, but that is a whole other thread Sad

OP posts:
Yulebealrite · 02/12/2018 12:31

What did she say?

Hortonlovesahoo · 02/12/2018 12:33

Why aren't you cycling?

Greenkit · 02/12/2018 12:34

whats the rest of the story ?

cowfacemonkey · 02/12/2018 12:36

Oh dear what happened?

InstagramPork · 02/12/2018 12:41

What??? You can’t just leave us hanging!
What happened?

TheOrigBrave · 02/12/2018 12:45

Oh sorry. Nothing to do with neighbour, just an issue with DS.
You guys love a bit if drama!

You guys love a bit of drama
says the woman who starts an AIBU thread.

AwkwardSquad · 02/12/2018 12:54

TBF to OP, we do love a bit of drama! Grin

TheOrigBrave · 02/12/2018 12:54

LOL....true!

I’m not denying only checking this thread because CF was in the title. Seriously OP, you can’t just start a thread, get it sorted, then leave us with nothing.

TheOrigBrave · 02/12/2018 13:04

But it's resolved. All agreed she was a CF, buoyed up with this knowledge I was proactive in my response to her and she responded positively ie came back.

There's nowt more to say is there?
Are there some AIBU CF rules I don't know about and have broken?

Surely I don't need to post a diagram?

OP posts:
Yulebealrite · 02/12/2018 13:10

So she's a reasonable CF then Sad

PerpendicularVincent · 02/12/2018 13:13

How disappointing SadGrin

A reasonable C.F. spoiling our fun. Bah

PositivelyPERF · 02/12/2018 13:13

You’re now in the roll of CF, OP! Coming on here, tempting readers with thoughts of a CC saga, then it turns out the CF behaved in a reasonable person. 😢 sniffle. Goes off looking for another CF thread

TheOrigBrave · 02/12/2018 13:14

So she's a reasonable CF then

Reformed!
