I am in a moaning mood tonight.

We have a weekly prize at school (teacher)

It is only two bars of chocolates but AIBU to be pissed off I have to buy them myself?

What would happen if you refused to buy them?

It’s a pisstake if you’re expected to do that. We all buy treats for classes I suppose but if I do it’s my own choice and I’m certainly not under any obligation to do it.

Holstenlane · 01/12/2018 19:35

Is it something you decided to do with your class? If so, then it's a choice you made.

But... if it's something official the school have decided to do, then just say no.

  1. Make an expenses claim
  2. Give a different, free prize (eg jump the queue at lunchtime)

There is absolutely no way I would buy anything like this out of my own money! If it’s compulsory it’s a pisstake.

No way should you have to pay yourself unless this was your idea. Dd’s school had a ‘star cushion’ and the reward was to be allowed to sit on that if you were star of the day the previous day, it seemed to be more than enough incentive for them to all be desperate to be the star each day and no cost (beyond finding an appropriate cushion) could you try something like that instead?
