To be annoyed about goose fat/beef dripping being on everything?

Vegetarian here, and I can't help but notice so many of the roast potatoes have either goose or beef dripping on them these days. It's actually difficult to find roast spuds suitable for veggies, and the packaging looks very similar so it's easy for some people to buy the wrong ones (my nan accidently brought beef dripping ones rather than veggie).

In the shop today, I couldn't dinf any Aunt Bessie or McCain veggie roast potatoes, I had to buy own brand. What's going on?

@cheshirechat for some reason I cannot cook frozen fish fingers no idea why but the breadcrumbs fall off..cant pan fry thick sausages either!

I always cut potatoes quite chunky to mash although sometimes potatoes can just be shit

Ready made roasties 🤢

MysteryNameChange · 01/12/2018 20:57

days

Did you ever ask them? Food places I've worked at have always made separate roast veg for veggies anyway.

IstanbulConstan I've made Yorkshire pudding wraps a couple of times in the last month, I like then but haven't perfected them yet.

I also make roast potatoes myself and freeze them in bulk (especially when I want to get rid of the potatoes that have been sitting around for ages)

Aunt Bessie's anything is rank, but particularly the toasties and Yorkshires. Yabu for buying readymade.

*roasties

It's because they taste nicer.
If you don't want them, make your own.
HTH

Is there anything easier than making roast potatoes? Why would you buy manky pre-made?

PermanentlyFrizzyHairBall · 01/12/2018 22:03

Agree with PP just make your own, There were a few veggies at xmas last year I just used olive oil instead of goose fat and they were just as nice.

TigerDroveAgain · 01/12/2018 22:05

Delicious with coconut oil. And I’m a dedicated anti-vegetarian

They have Yorkshire pudding wraps at the Christmas markets near me, but haven't tried it as they're rather overpriced (£7 IIRC).
