Chemicals in Sanitary Products

Just been out in the pouring rain and over-trousers have let in water so I googled to find out why that might be. One of the reasons could be a break down of bi-component polyurethane in the material it's also used in concrete, foams, silicones etc.
Apparently also used in tampons. I carried on and found this web site-
www.mygenefood.com/how-to-find-non-toxic-tampons-you-can-feel-good-about-using/ . It explains chemicals used for each type of product and what to look for to avoid.
Tampons/ pads can also have dioxins/ glyphosphate in them . I know I'm probably late to this but I hadn't realised all the implications for health, I thought mostly environmental ( 20 billion items per annum in North America going to landfill )
For young women it must be worth trying to avoid these unregulated chemicals and their effects . I won't trust the companies ,probably because I just watched the DuPont Teflon documentary!
