Child tax credits, and the mortgage

Does anyone here who has split from the father of their kids receive child tax credit BUT their ex pays the mortgage directly even though he has moved out of the house? (His name still on the deeds and mortgage).

I thought that the child tax credits people would say we had "joint financial arrangements" and were therefore a couple if my ex paid the mortgage for a house I live in and he has moved out, so I said I wanted him to transfer me the money each month eg like maintenance, and then I would pay the mortgage.

Of course now he has decided not to transfer me any money this month, so I am wondering if it's better for him to pay the mortgage directly rather than him doing this whenever he feels like it.

But then, wouldn't the child tax credits people say that we had joint finances and therefore were still a couple? ( he has moved out but his name is still on the house deeds and mortgage). I don't want to get in trouble with child tax credits people, I claimed as a single person because I am , but we have not been to solicitors or court yet to formalise any arrangements.

Thank you for your help.

I think as long as you can show that you have split up, just having him on the mortgage shouldn't be a problem. Does he have another address for his bills, electoral roll etc? My ex is still named on my mortgage, although he pays me the money as maintenance which I use to pay the mortgage.

But I don't think one financial link like this would be enough to try and prove that you are still together, it's quite common among newly separated people, as it takes a while to sell up and move on.

If you're worried you could phone them and ask, but I would advise just cracking on with formal arrangements and getting it all official ASAP. If anyone queries it, as long as you have something showing his other address you will be fine.
