Ds is a mature 12 yo if this makes any difference.

I could go on my own (dp working every hour he can atm) but I think Ds would love the music and the Queen story.

Anyone been who can say yay or nay?

I would, but then I like Queen. I'm going to see it tomorrow with DD and a few friends.

sandalsinthebin · 30/11/2018 20:13

Definitely take him! It’s brilliant, very sad though so take tissues. Went with DS15 and DD21 we all cried (though DS won’t admit it)

RockYourSocksOff · 30/11/2018 20:13

I love Queen and I’m dying to go and see it before it goes off the big screen.

I saw the trailer when I was at cinema with 11yr old ds and immediately thought he would love it. He is going with dh at some point.

almostnine · 30/11/2018 20:15

I took my 9, 10 and even 4 year old. I think it went down best with the 4 year old actually!

RockYourSocksOff · 30/11/2018 20:15

Sandals, I still remember how sad I was when Freddie died.

Thanks for the tip. I will take tissues.

Do you think it’s suitable for a 12 yo though?

I took my 12 year old. She loved it. said it was the best movie ever.

starandson · 30/11/2018 20:17

I went with my OH but I’d say it’s fine for a mature 12 year old. It’s brilliant.

implantsandaDyson · 30/11/2018 20:17

My just turned 11 year old has seen it 3 times Grin. She loves it - my husband took her, I went with her and then my mum took her - hard to say which out of those two loved it more! Her 13 year old sister also loved it.

Most of the 11 year olds school friends have also seen it - it's been a huge hit with all of them.

maddiemookins16mum · 30/11/2018 20:18

I took DD 13, she loved it although I bored her with my observation that U2 did not play directly before Queen at Live Aid (as shown in the film). I know this because I still have the VHS tape with my recording of both these bands’ incredible performances.

RockYourSocksOff · 30/11/2018 20:19

Thanks for your replies, you’ve helped me to decide, I’m going to take Ds over the weekend. Grin

I went with my 7 month old... probably not quite what you meant though!

There was swearing, some kissing (gay and straight), and evidence of drug taking, cant remember overt drug stuff though

I'd have thought it was fine for a 12 year old, it was fantastic!

CardsforKittens · 30/11/2018 20:21

I took two of mine: a mature 15 year old and a not-so-mature 13 year old. They loved it. As did I.

Armchairanarchist · 30/11/2018 20:24

Yes DD aged 11. We all loved it.

DopeyDazy · 30/11/2018 21:49

like to take my grandson but is there anything that might be embarrassing in it sexually Blush

ginnybag · 30/11/2018 21:56

I took my almost 9 DD. She loved it and it was a great spring board to open up some topics.

Its an ace film, obviously brilliant music and very deft in its handling of the darker moments

Bloodyfucksake · 30/11/2018 22:01

Took DS who is 10. He already liked Queen (now it's love) and he really had a good time.
I don't think he understood all of the more mature moments because the real focus was on the band's creative journey.
Oh we would both go again!

AuntieFesterAdams · 01/12/2018 06:22

Nothing overtly sexual- quick scene with man and woman in bed with sheets up over chest, and two men kissing but (as my kids said) not in a yeurgh way- ie no tongues, just passionate lips.

KingIrving · 01/12/2018 06:28

I took DS2 who is 12. Totally fine, no nudity, sex, only an amazing movie! I didn’t expect to like it so much! Go and enjoy it !

onthenaughtystepagain · 01/12/2018 08:38

I saw it with my granddaughters, 10 and 13, and their parents, they loved it. There was a discussion on the way home about AIDS and its causes but it didn't detract from the film.

Ohyesiam · 01/12/2018 08:46

I took my11 yo to see it, we loved it. No sex, a shot of some white powder on a glass table In generally messy room to illustrate drugs.

Freddie gets the eye from a bloke and you see him going to gents but nothing else, it’s not even clear if Freddie takes him up on it.
The words gay and bisexual are mentioned. My son asked what bisexual is and I was happy to answer.
It’s very respectful of Freddie and his memory, no expose tabloid stuff.

There’s a website called common sense media that I always check films out on , it gives a detailed run down of plot and contents. A bit American right wing, but very usefulGrin
