Why isn't Anita Harris a Dame?

My first panto aged about 4 and the awkward moment came up, 'Who's going to come on stage?' Not me but I had pushy parents. Anita, in her lovely leotard, principle boy as ever, made sure I was ok. This happened somewhere in Manchester a long time ago.

DH is older than me and mentions her as his first crush.

Singing, dancing, acting - so lovely; she should be a Dame.

Yes, I'm watching telly after a very strange week at work but she took my hand that time I was tiny and gave me the confidence to step on stage with her.

It's all ok for the worthy and the serious to get such awards. What about the true troopers?

I also saw Anita Harris in panto as a child, OP. She was Peter Pan in the Edinburgh Playhouse, sometime in the mid 70's!

She was an ice skater, not sure how long or how successful though. I saw her in Cats in the West End, probably more than 30 years ago Blush I remember my mother being very disappointed that it wasn't Elaine Paige performing.

Funnily enough she was on TV last night in Celebrity Bargain Hunt or something like that. John Partridge was the other contestant. I didn't watch it all though so don't know who won. It did make me look for Anita on Wiki and it said both she and her husband owed the Revenue and were going to be made bankrupt, but they entered into voluntary arrangements.
