Help me to make Christmas magical!

A few children in my sons class (he has just turned 7) have been telling the children that Father Christmas isn't real. I would love to keep the magic alive for a bit longer for my son, so can anyone give me tips to help make it more magical for him? He hasn't said that he believes them, and is quite young for his age.

We already do Elf on a shelf, advent calendars, christmas eve boxes, any more tips? thanks in advance

I think pushing it too much is probably more likely to make him doubt tbh!

LondonMummy1987 · 29/11/2018 14:38

I wasn't planning on pushing it, but more ideas of secret things that would encourage belief x

Write the letter to royal mail so he gets a letter back from Santa?

Take him to local garden centre for hot chocolate and mooch around the Christmas stuff (some have reindeer depending where you are in the world)

My DD is almost 7 and has the same thing. She asked me if Santa was real because her friends told her he wasn't. I asked her what she believed and she thought he did exist thanks to the videos he sends on portable North Pole so that might be worth a go. They make fab videos from Santa using details you provide and photos. He even says her unusual name pretty well! If she was really doubtful I'd have been honest but it's nice for a bit longer!

Portable north pole is your friend!
You can make him a video from Santa with his details and photos in it.
Mine are older but still love getting their videos.

North Pole breakfast - for when the elf arrives! One of my favourite things to do!

You can buy on eBay father christmas' button on a piece of ripped red velvet which you can drop on the carpet on Xmas eve. We did it last year and my DD loved it

My kids loved this, bare with me...
You can make a stencil around a large boot / foot...
Place it on the floor, by or near front door / fireplace,
Using a sieve sprinkle flour around it, so when you pick up the template it looks like a boot print in snow. Repeat as many times as you care for to make Santa's footprints.
My kids were so excited by this when they were little.

We used to look out of the bedroom window on Christmas eve to see if we could see the sleigh. One of my parents would pop out of the room shortly before and they must have played a CD of bells, we loved it and went crazy when we heard the bells. Any my dad always read the night before Christmas. We helped our parents prepare the stuffing/pigs in blankets and then laid out a mince pie for Santa and a carrot for the reindeer.

But then we're a weird family, we kept our Christmas traditions going even when I was in my early 20s. Obviously at a certain time you know it's not real but you love the magic and family closeness it brings.

Christmas films. Especially the old classics

smiler0206 · 29/11/2018 20:58

Santa's pnp. Go on to the website and you can make a video message from Santa and add pictures and things. It's amazing

onthenaughtystepagain · 29/11/2018 23:15

Check if the space station is coming over at a convenient time, a couple or three years ago it was over at around 5.30, they were thrilled.

bumblenbean · 29/11/2018 23:29

pineapple that’s such a sweet idea! Smile

I’m sure your boy will have a magical Christmas OP, sounds like you do all you can to make it special. I remember the excitement of Christmas as a child so clearly, there’s nothing quite like it ever again.

Portable North Pole is fab! Been doing videos for years. We went to Lapland 3 years ago and actually saw this Santa at the Santa village. He is an amazing man who you queue up to see for free. He speaks many languages too! Videos are brilliant, you can add your own photos and choose topics to personalise it.

A December 1st box is a must, as is a Christmas Eve box.
