AIBU to think we shouldn't have got a bill for doctor appointment?

DD, 2, had an outpatients hospital appointment in the summer for suspected asthma. Saw the consultant, we where packed off with a prescription, all fine.

We're in the UK, it was an NHS appointment based on a GP referral.

Today, I opened an invoice from the hospital for £330! Shock

It's just an invoice, no explanation of why we're being charged.

I can ring in the morning and ask but wondered if anyone knew why this might have happened?

kayaking, I said GF or Unionist in my next post. I may not agree with your politics but at least you were very well aware of the potentially inflammatory nature of your remark. I actually much prefer that over some people‘s complete ignorance over anything that ‚doesn‘t affect them‘.

The questions from you about where I live and from feefee re why as a foreigner I even care about that particular topic feel a bit off though. Not sure why foreigners shouldn‘t be allowed an opinion...though that does appear to be a popular one among Brexiteers for example.

AnotherDIYSunday · 29/11/2018 02:21

I think that‘s great Feefee, not least because recent Irish history is massively important re Brexit (whatever side you‘re on), so actually something that will affect your own life, too.

Feefeetrixabelle · 29/11/2018 02:21

I haven’t said anything of the sort Sunday you absolute liar.

I don’t profess to know everything Sunday but I know I’ve never suggested a foreigner shouldn’t care about a topic. It must be agony for you knowing everything.

kayaking · 29/11/2018 02:24

An opinion absolutely, to call people names and suggest they intend to insult others is unreasonable and actually is what is goady.
If you are interested in history you need to study both sides of a subject to be able to conduct a debate about it.

AnotherDIYSunday · 29/11/2018 02:25

Your post from 01:57 suggests exactly that to me, feefee. I do apologise if I have misunderstood you.

AnotherDIYSunday · 29/11/2018 02:27

Telling others that they need to study history better is a bit rich coming from you. 😂

Let‘s leave it there though, I‘m sure this is not helpful to the OP and it is late.

Feefeetrixabelle · 29/11/2018 02:27

I suggest you re read the 1:57 post from me.

kayaking · 29/11/2018 02:28

Sunday, stop attacking Feefee, if you need to have a go at some one then do so to me, Feefee has been nothing but reasonable unlike you!

kayaking · 29/11/2018 02:30

I lived part of this particular history, don't try and teach me to suck eggs.

AnotherDIYSunday · 29/11/2018 02:30

And I suggest you re-read my post from 02:25 in which I apologised for possibly misunderstand you / misinterpreting your post.

Feefeetrixabelle · 29/11/2018 02:33

I suggest you re read my post. Because there is no misunderstanding it. Because your accusing me of something another poster said. Nothing I have said could be misunderstood in that way.

AnotherDIYSunday · 29/11/2018 02:35

Kayaking, let‘s just agree to disagree, I don‘t think either one of us will change our mind on this tonight and it‘s not the topic of this thread anyways.

AnotherDIYSunday · 29/11/2018 02:37

Feefee, I am genuinely sorry, that post was indeed from kayaking, not you. Completely my mistake, I‘m useless on my phone, sorry.

No it's not the topic of this thread and you are right we will never agree. It is something that impacted my and my children's lives (as it did people on both sides) and is not to be taken lightly, or just as a subject for uninformed debate.

I would never behave that way. And as for your constant insinuations that I must be pro brexit. I’m not. At all. But those are the cards we’ve been dealt so we have to suck it up.

Looking into why I don’t know much about Ireland and it’s recent history it’s because it was happening while I was a school child and therefore blissfully ignorant. Because it was before internet times. So no I wouldn’t have been taught anything about Ireland’s history at school.

I never mind educating myself and admitting when I don’t know anything as well as acknowledging if I’ve caused offence. But I find you instant nasty digs abhorrent. Just because I don’t know somethingg doesn’t make me ignorant thick or stupid. It also doesn’t give you the right to belittle the things I say. There are things I will know that you wouldn’t have a hope of grasping. And likewise things you will know that I wouldn’t have a hope of grasping. Everyone is different. Maybe your next lesson to yourself would be learning to value people for what they know not what they don’t know.

MyOtherProfile · 29/11/2018 02:45

If it's anything like my hospital, it'll be the car park fee...

AnotherDIYSunday · 29/11/2018 02:47

I‘m glad we can agree on that at least. Maybe another time (and not the middle of the night!) on another thread. While I do have an opinion on this that probably won‘t change, I am always interested in hearing the other side as well. Good Night now!

kayaking · 29/11/2018 02:47

I asked if there was a reciprocal agreement and you tell me there is. It's not something I have to agree with though.

Good night Sunday, have a good weekend.

kayaking · 29/11/2018 02:50

Notan, fine with me as long as it works both ways.

kayaking · 29/11/2018 02:51

Ireland is still a place we can't safely visit because of my husbands previous job.

Notan · 29/11/2018 02:52

Irish people have pretty much the same rights as British people once they're resident here. Including the right to vote in all elections/referenda etc. Same applies to British in Ireland.
Irish people have the right to claim jobseekers here. British people can claim jobseekers in Ireland.
Irish people can freely travel to and from Britain. Likewise Brits.
It falls under the Ireland Agreement (1940).
