Married with one DS who is 3. I was 35 when I got pregnant and almost 36 when I had him. It took over 2 years to get pregnant. We weren’t timing sex to most fertile times, just not using any protection. We haven’t been able to try again until now as we can’t afford two lots of childcare. DS will be in school by the time I had another baby if I concieved now. We are trying again now on most fertile days but nothing. It’s been several months. I don’t smoke, am taking pregnacare conception tablets, leading healthy lifestyle, I’m not overweight, I rarely drink. I know it’s not been that long but I can’t help feeling it’s not going to happen. Please cheer me up with your stories of babies post 39 years and any tips you have!

Me! My mum was 44 when I was born.

I had my first two weeks shy of my 38th birthday.

I’m sitting here with 17 week old ds, my third child, on my lap and I’m 44. It’s been a longer journey for me than I expected, thanks to emergency c sections meaning I had to leave longer in between trying to conceive, secondary infertility for which no reason could be found, and 3 miscarriages. I always wanted 3 but thought that boat had sailed, so I feel so lucky. Personally, what seemed to help with me is that I seemed to conceive after a period of losing a bit of weight - all the pregnancies and surgeries of the last 10 years have left my body in a bit if a state and overweight, but losing a few pounds seems to kickstart things for me!
