To phone council re broken down car next door

His car broke down this morning on the pavement outside our house completely blocking the pavement forcing people to go on the road around it.. Basically blocking my view of the road as I pull out of my drive. We live on a main road and he’s just left it there with a sign saying broken. It’s a big people carrier.

I’ve no idea what to do and maybe I’m a bit thick about it as I’m on my own and have no idea what happens if your car breaks down on the pavement on your way off the drive.
Aibu to ask him what he’s planning to do with it as I’m actually thinking he’s planning on leaving it there for as long as he can get away with it. Or should I give him more time. He’s definitely just left it there and then gone to work another way. FWIW I don’t think he even speaks English from the brief conversations I’ve had with him so he might not even understand me!

@Itsyersel I feel more than 24 hours later I’ve given him the benefit of the doubt tbh. I’ll put money on it’s still there next week. I’ll update then. And yes I’ve stopped driving my car now because it’s a nightmare getting on and off with people walking around the car whilst I’m reversing and onto the road to get around the car. Thanks for the replies even the ones saying I’m racist/nasty/curtain twitching Wink

LOL OP - it's amazing what people assume on here.
Seriously, you need to address it tonight.
Talk to him and tell him that it's fucking dangerous and unless it's gone by end of Friday you will be contacting police and council.
It's actually preventing you from going about your normal daily business.
And it's causing a huge obstruction and a danger to the general public.
Not OK!!!!

If she's going to talk to him to say all that she could just offer to help him push it back on his drive.

BeekyChitch · 29/11/2018 16:33

If it's blocking the pavement call the council! 24 hours is enough time to either move it to a safer place or call a recovery vehicle. YANBU

I would be calling the police non emergency number. He's clearly not doing anything about it. If his English is that bad he could use Google translate to ask a few neighbours if he wanted help to push it.

@hulahoopar.....So did you grass the poor guy in or did he come and move it, you know Maybe when he had the chance to get help....

Quick update the car got moved on Monday after getting two parking tickets. I heard it being moved but for fear of being branded a nasty racist curtain twitching mumsnetter I decided against staring out the window with a happy look on my face.
