It's not about kissing your kids I think it's the kissing on the lips that some people find odd. I don't like it and have never kissed my kids on the lips, it's not something my parents did either . However I have no objection to others doing it, I guess there is more of a risk of passing bugs on particularly herpes / cold sore virus which I think was my mum never encouraged it.

It’s sweet to me and as parent to girls I hope DH isn’t considered a weirdo for kissing them on the lips as small children!

BonnieandHyde · 27/11/2018 22:59

I saw a dad kiss his 16yr old son on the head the other day. The Dad is only in his 30s too and a proper 'rough' manly man. It melted my heart - as to this kid, a super tall puberty hitting teenager, it meant the world and his face lit up 😍

Babyroobs · 27/11/2018 23:00

No one is saying there is anything wrong with head kissing/ cheek kissing etc.

kimmy3001 · 27/11/2018 23:00

@brookshelley agreed!

I kiss my dogs on the head, wouldn't go for a lip kiss though.

greyspottedgoose · 27/11/2018 23:05

My sons kiss me on the lips, I'm not going to stop them because half the population think they shouldn't 🤷🏻‍♀️

seventhgonickname · 27/11/2018 23:06

Our family hugs and kiss the end but dd has always kissed me on the lips, after 15 years this is our norm.

Gileswithachainsaw · 27/11/2018 23:11

Oh ffs. So many kids in care or in horrendous situations where no one hugs or kisses or shows them love at all. And a loving family arebralked about like this?

Not a huge fan of the Beckham's but it's innocent and in a couple of years she will be stomping off and rolling her eyes just like every stroppy madam..

People really will twist everything.

Neither if them deserve to be talked about in this way

Willow2017 · 27/11/2018 23:55

People have little to do but slag off others for doing things they couldnt do themselves for some reason or another.

Kissing kids on the lips is not weird at all, they are your kids ffs! If anyone told me I was weird or somehow sexually innapropriate for allowing my boys to kiss me on the lips they would get a fat lip themselves.

Seriously, kids are being abused or killed daily by those who are supposed to care for them yet those that obviously do care for their kids are villified for it.

Lips are not some part of your genitalia, their primary objective is to stop your mouth fraying at the edges. Grin

It’s a normal, natural thing. I find people who take issue with it a worry. What’s exactly are they implying, that something untoward is happening? I think that’s more a reflection of their state of mind.

Roobub · 28/11/2018 08:16

It's really sad. Sexualizing something which is in no way sexual. Maybe it's a nono in other cultures, but they're not from those cultures!

It's a lovely, natural way of showing affection!

BlaaBlaaBlaa · 28/11/2018 08:26

Kissing your child on the lips is perfectly normal. Those people saying it isn't- why? What exactly is wrong with showing affection in that way?
