Am getting a cold Sad Started with a bit of an odd throat yesterday and today am starting to feel blocked up and groggy.

I have lots on this weekend so could do with getting rid ASAP.

What’s the best tried and tested method you have for shifting a cold? Thanks!

If you get colds regularly you should think about taking echinacea around the times you think you are vulnerable. My DH always gets terrible flu when he stops work for Christmas. In the past couple of years he has taken this in Dec and not had it.

Lozenges made with cistus extract. They are widely available here in Germany and I use them when I feel a cold coming. It prevents a sore throat / runny nose turning into a cold.

Vicks first defence. A lemsip at bed time.

Thanks everyone! Have tried a few of the things mentioned and (touch wood) seem a little better. Turns out I quite like hot honey and lemon!

Will look into echinacea.

Traditional here- Lemsip, or hot honey and lemon (with a little ginger or a cinnamon stick if you fancy it)

Garlic (or garlic capsules)
Soluble vitamins (berocca or similar unbranded)

No dairy for the worst bit

Honey and lemon sweets, tunes or strepsils or other throat sweets if you need them

When I wasn't pregnant I once had strong cough syrup, Lemsip and solpadeine Max and an early night which worked wonders although it knocked me the hell out

Oh and Vicks or similar rubbed on your chest

I put it on the kids feet

I second taking echinacea drops coupled with a selenium supplement to boost immune system, ending the day with a hot toddy at bedtime, with Olbas oil drops on pillowcase.
