To think there must be a way to earn £20k a year from home?

I’m a qualified nurse. Qualified in 2016 and have had 3 jobs since then. Reason being ... I struggle socially, suspected ASD, can’t handle pressure or being around people all day - I just hate my job.
I only need to earn around £20k a year to contribute to the house. Surely there must be something I can do from home? I’m off work atm for the 3rd time this year with stress. I can’t keep doing what I’m doing.

@summergems That is fascinating about being unable to be an organ donor if you have had botox. Is this true? Surely the implications are huge for the transplant list if the ever-growing number of Botoxed people are all barred. Does the local injection of botox travel to organs?

Off topic but cant find any info googling..

Driver for the local supermarket? No need to interact except to say hello and bye.

Can anyone point me in the direction of home call centre workers please?

FrontRowSeat · 01/12/2018 18:07

KateGrey. I’m a home based customer services agent. Feel free to ask anything !

How about learning to code? IT is a well paid job and there are sites to do freelance coding remotely for people.

Loobyloo16 · 01/12/2018 18:39

I'm a self employed cleaner and earn £20k this year anyway. But then again next week I could lose a few clients and my wage would go right down.
I'm just save like mad when I'm warning well to cover for the times when I'm not.

It's hard work though and I do spend up to 8 hours a day cleaning.

Medical transcription?

As PP have said, you need to look for a role where your nursing qualifications are valuable (essential) but you aren’t in a hospital. You either need to set up your own business (Botox is one idea) or to find employment in the private sector. Go back to your university careers service as a first port of call.

Basecamp65 · 01/12/2018 18:47

Did you have a specialism- I work from home for a medical charity - on the helpline.

My ex's new partner works from home for NHS direct.

A friend works as an insurance assessor for medical injuries from home.

I think nursing is one of the jobs with lots of home working opportunities.

HollaHolla · 01/12/2018 18:53

I would look at non-medical prescribing, so once you’ve got your V300, you can look at Botox, local anaesthetics, etc.

If you were looking at Play Therapy, then you usually have to be BACP qualified, so you’re generally looking at a PG MSc - so 2 years, as it’s pre-registration with placements....

Bamchicabaawaa · 01/12/2018 19:08

Hey, @FrontRowSeat !
Hope you don’t mind me asking, but how did you get into your role? Are there any core qualifications/ experience you need for these types of position?
Are they hard to get into/ few and far between?
Thanks so much!

Violetroselily · 01/12/2018 19:11

Do you mean work 35 hours a week fully from home, or ad hoc work that can be done from home "as and when"?

if the former, there's call centre type jobs that can be done fully from home.

FrontRowSeat · 01/12/2018 19:58

Hi Bamchic. Just some basic customer service/retail/call centre/admin type experience should be fine. As long as you show you are professional during interview with reasonable IT skills you should be fine. My company are recruiting now. If you go to Indeed.com and input ‘remote’ in location box you should find a few things. Good luck.

Justgivemesomepeace · 01/12/2018 20:03

The company that do Occupation Health assessments for the company I work for use nurses that are employed from home. They make telephone appointments and do the consultations over the phone, then write the reports up.
