To lounge around watching films all day?

I’m off work with stress. Had plans to keep busy and go to gym, see people etc ... now I’ve gone down with some kind of a virus. Lost my voice, cycling between hot and cold, muscles aching from gym yesterday, headache ...
AIBU to do the one thing I said I wouldn’t do while I’m off - lounging in the sofa watching films all day? Feel lazy and guilty as DH is out working for us

Surely feeling lazy and guilty isn't going to help with your stress.

LipstickTraces · 27/11/2018 08:33

Of course uabu. You’re not well! Get watching those films ASAP. I would suggest chocolate and cake to help yourself alongSmile

YANBU

Sounds like your body is processing all the stress. I always get ill when I stop. R&R is what you need. You can focus on rebuilding later.

Geordiegirl79 · 27/11/2018 09:12

Your body is probably trying to tell you to rest. Listen to it! Get snuggled up and watch those films. It sounds like you need it. Smile

I too am off work with stress and will be lounging around on the sofa so yanbu Flowers

How about alternating a trashy film with sth more educational? A ten-minute podcast on oh, say, palaeontology and then back to bubblegum?

You need the rest, I never feel guilty at times like that.

AbbyMCMLXXX · 27/11/2018 10:01

I agree with the above. The medium of television and the Internet can be used for far more than nonsense like Strickly Bum Dancing and Twatter.

Try Dan Carlins Hardcore History podcasts, or some Hertzog documentaries, far better time spent and might make you feel you've achieved something with the day.

If you are ' physically ' ill as well, then I would say take a day to get as much rest as possible, but keep in mind what you watch might add to your already fragile mental health.

As others have already suggested, if you can get YouTube on your telly or on a laptop, try watchmaking some wellbeing or mindfulness videos, or listen to some podcasts or music. I think you feel more proactive then which always seems to help even in a small way with mental health issues ( speaking from my own experience anyway)

DH is at work now.
DS is poorly and is napping.
I'm currently lounging in the sofa with a chick flick and a big box of lindt truffles.
I think we all need a day of chilling every now and again.
