Are these available with volume limiter ?

OP posts:
gamerchick · 26/11/2018 15:32

As in turning it up or down? Most of them do that.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 26/11/2018 15:36

Yes, most come with a volume control? Or do you mean something that restricts the volume to a certain level?

toomanycuddlytoys · 26/11/2018 17:21

Ones with volume restriction

OP posts:
bluebeau · 26/11/2018 17:21

you can restrict it via the console i think?

but no they dont have limiters i dont think

nikkylou · 26/11/2018 17:52

I've not known one with a limiter built in but the device it's being used on may have restrictions. Or software for the headset if it's through a PC, that allows you to do, amongst other things.

However if you are trying to find one with this feature to stop the user from not hearing you then that's not going to help. Most gaming headsets (at least any worth getting) will have noise cancelling so you can't hear the outside world even when the volume is low...

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 26/11/2018 18:00

Yes, you can adjust the overall volume on the device it is connected to.

Maybe if you tell us what you are looking for we will be able to come up with something that will help?

toomanycuddlytoys · 27/11/2018 12:07

Headphones where the sound will not go above a certain volume, to protect the ear health

OP posts:
gamerchick · 27/11/2018 12:33

They don't exist OP, the volume will have to be adjusted on the machine they're connected too.

gamerchick · 27/11/2018 12:35

And asking the same question in different ways with no engagement whatsoever won't change the answers.

toomanycuddlytoys · 27/11/2018 12:52

gamerchick ? I'm only asking as wanting to protect his hearing. We are not all tech savvy

OP posts:
Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 27/11/2018 12:59

Yes you can get them but think they are children's. Have a look on Amazon.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 27/11/2018 13:02

Oh no, sorry, they're not the gaming ones. Got my son a gaming headset but can't limit the volume.

StarCutterCookie · 27/11/2018 13:03

Doubt you'll find any headphones with an in-built limiter, most humans possess the ability to turn something down, there's no need really.

All you can do is educate

toomanycuddlytoys · 27/11/2018 13:07

Lots of kids headphones are sold with volume limiters, so I guessed that this would be the case with kids gaming headphones too.

But you do know how a conversation/giving information works?

How about:

My son is X age and plays games on X console/platform, he wants a headset to play his games with his friends/by himself so we don't have to hear it *delete as appropriate

Im worried he'll damage his hearing, is there a headset where I can set a top limit for volume?'

That will have all the information we'll need to be able to help you.

There are headsets that cover both ears, cover one ear, cup the ear, lie flat across the ear, bud ear piece, hook on ones that make your ear scream. A little bit of information can really help sifting through them all and maybe find the closest one to suit what you want.

wannabestressfree · 27/11/2018 13:24

I agree with @gamerchick. A bit more info would be helpful. Certain headsets work better with certain consoles.

Also the way it's written sounds more like a repeated command.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 27/11/2018 14:36

To be fair, I think it's obvious what OP was looking for in her first post. It's surely not that hard to understand??

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 27/11/2018 15:07

It's not really that clear - I wasn't sure if she meant a volume control, a way of limiting the volume for the user, or a way of limiting noise 'leakage' for other people in the room.

Champion Grin I'm sure you'll be able to point the OP to the headset they're looking for because I can't without added information.

nikkylou · 27/11/2018 15:49

I don't think the OP was completely unclear but could have done with some clarity.

Whether it's for a console or a PC will be useful information. And considering we get all levels of knowledge it's not beyond the realms of possibility that the OP didn't know headsets could come with volume controls.

As I said, I think any limiter option is going to have to come from a software on the console or PC depending on which it is.

Perhaps someone will be able to recommend a software / app?

Otherwise you'll have to trust your child to make sensible choices re. volume levels. Or you'll have to tolerate speakers...

Houseonahill · 27/11/2018 15:52

Buy him one with only one headphone then one ear will be safe Smile

Feelslikeheaven · 25/12/2018 19:33

OP I have searched for these as well. My kids have Puro headphones which are extremely good noise limiting headphones. They have a built in mic but unfortunately I couldn't get them to work as a gaming headset. Protecting children's hearing is so important as it gets damaged at a lower level than adults' hearing. I ended up getting an external Mic for Xbox rather than headphones.
