I seem to paying a lot... But its my first winter in a bigger house so I don't have a lot to base it on.

I've just had my last quarter bill : for gas I've used 3595kWh and billed £146.69, for electricity 1092kWh and billed £182.02.

I have a 3 bedroom, 7 room total, house.

Should mention the house is rented and has a extremely old boiler and is draughty BUT we make a point of just wrapping up and only putting heating on for a hour in morning, and a few at night - 3 hours max. We aren't particularly heavy on the hot water either, I turn it off when it's not needed.

Just shy of £200 a month for gas and electric. 5 beds, 3 storey house. Seems to either to too cold or too warm. I’m here all the time and I work at home but I won’t put the heating on during the day - i’ve been making an effort to reduce also. I’ve 4DCs who are teenagers so there’s always gadgets on.

I understand the gadgets, when I loved at home with my parents all my siblings and I were heavy on the electric. Really don't appriacate the cost until you move out!

Our last qtr (calculated today) was £86 electric and £46 gas so £156 including standing charges. 3 bed semi with 3 kids who seem to be charging something 24/7! We also have a tumble drier. Yours seems very high to me

Just had my bill for October and it was £170 combined for just that month. I'm horrified. My direct debit is only for £86 so need to find the remainder. It's not even been that cold yet.
Live in 4 bed semi and I am on maternity leave however I go out a lot so I don't have the heating on too much!

I definitely think our gas heating has something to do with our bills now I've looked into it, it's hot air heating plus its all tank storage too.. No electric showers etc

We switched our gas and electricity in January 2019 using this site www.octopusmoneysaver.co.uk. On the site they give an esitimate of what you would expect to pay for each tariff but ours was even cheaper than as advertised. Bills are definitely alot less each month and we recieved £50 just for making the switch. Worth a try just to see what they quote Smile

Sounds similar to ours-3 bedroom terrace, 7 rooms.... was £130 a month-have just used the bill switchers who were on dragons den (sorry I can't remember name)-to get it to £100-maybe try them? We were n £80 for quite a long time but camne out of a fixed rate deal and it rocketed. We do work shifts etc so there are probably people at home more than in other households-hence the highish bill.
