People, mostly women I guess, sit crossed-legged in public. Not sure if it’s actually called cross legged, but it’s the way children sit when they are told to sit in a circle on the floor. Today at breakfast I saw a woman sitting this way; she actually removed her shoes so her bare feet were on seat. I also have a work colleague who does it. Anyone knows if this serves a purpose or is just preference?

To me it always seems like it’s people being cool and young. It’s also a common thing for the yoga crowd to do. It does seem odd to me. At 45 I’d feel like a pretentious boho ass (which I am obviously, but I like to not look it).

My feet don't touch the floor in most chairs so sitting crossed legged is more comfortable.

WinterfellWench · 25/11/2018 11:46

What a weird thing to get bothered about! Confused

I don't give a damn how people sit.

I sit however feels comfortable and any given time.

And I am not a child or teenager - SHOCKER! Shock

I sit cross legged like that I have no idea why I just don’t feel comfortable sitting with my feet on the floor. Tbh now I’m getting older it’s not any mire comfortable sitting cross legged it’s just habit. I also sit with one leg tucked under me quite a lot as well.
I wouldn’t take my shoes off and sit cross legged in the tube or anything but I probably do it in other places that others might find weird. It’s got nothing to do with being young and edgy I’ve just always done it.

Winterfell I’m not remotely bothered by it, although I don’t like to sit on a seat where someone’s bare feet have been. I am genuinely curious. My husband suggested it could be a muscle stretching thing.

Like a PP I hate sitting with my feet on the floor so sit with legs either crossed or tucked under

SoyDora · 25/11/2018 12:03

Never noticed this!

To let a nice breeze waft up my Fanjo.

ToastedSandwichObsession · 25/11/2018 12:07

I must live in a very non trendy place because I've never seen anyone do that here Hmm

Underpressureidiot · 25/11/2018 12:22

I used to sit like that as a kid because I had pretty severe dyspraxia and couldn’t get comfortable any other way to do writing etc. It would be more comfortable for me to sit like that in public now, but I don’t because it’s rude to put your feet/shoes on seats where other people sit! Yanbu, irritates me too.

A fanjo breeze waft. Grin

It's not a muscle thing, they're just wankers. There is no need to sit like this in public unless you are sitting on the floor. It's not acceptable to do it in Costa/the library/McDonald's/the bus stop imo.
