To expect a charity shop to check things before selling on

Just as the title says really.

We were dropping of toys etc at our local childrens charity shop yesterday and my ds 7 had some pocket money he wanted to spend. He got a book, a dvd and the game Doggie Doo.

Got home and over half the bits of the game are missing. It was basically the dog and a few scoops! He was disappointed obviously and felt he wasted his pocket money. We gave him the money back because we felt sorry for him. He is yet to try the dvd!

I think some people see charity shops as an extension to the local dump and rather than sort stuff out between the two the lot goes to the poor bloody shop. However surely the staff should also be checking everything that comes in?

Lesson learnt and at least it was only £2.99

Ragwort I wasn't trying to imply a 60 yo can't count to 1000. As someone who is around 60 and volunteers in a charity shop I was trying to say its been that long since I played with Lego, 'Doggie Doo' or any toy, that its not that easy to know what bits are supposed to be there and what bits, if any, are missing. Jigsaws dont always have exactly the number of pieces stated on the box and instructions are commonly missing.

Not to mention how many charity shops actually have the time, space and quantity of volunteers to be sitting counting/making/playing with Jigsaws/Lego pieces/toys worth £1.99 (I know mine doesn't).

I found a razor blade with no protective casing on it in a womens coat once I got it home. I akways check pockets first before buying now.
And no I didn't take it back. I had no proof it was in the coat and didn't want to get into an argument about it
