AIBU to not store Xmas cake in a tin?

Made my Xmas cake today but it won't fit in to my cake tin - help! Will it be ok if I just wrap it in cling film and foil, or does it need to be in an air-tight container too?

Wrap it in greaseproof then foil. It needs to breathe. Don’t use cling or Tupperware or else it might go mouldy

Wrap in greaseproof paper and put in a cardboard box.

Definitely not clingfilm ( the moisture of the cake will make it sweat)
I wrap mine in greaseproof paper and then again in foil.

Haha we all said the same/ at the same time !

I do a double layer of fresh greaseproof paper then foil .

If you do it as a + shape , put the cake in the middle then fold up. You still have to open it up to feed it.

Cling film sounds wrong but I don't know why?

Ah, sweaty cake in cling, I knew there was a reason Xmas Grin

Weird, the recipe said to wrap in cling film, foil and store in a tin! But will do as you all advise and go for greaseproof paper Grin

Foil not fool! Blush

Agree with pp- my cake is tucked up in baking parchment and then foil. I don't have cling film in the house!

Mine is in the freezer to stop me eating it Blush
