...not to understand how someone can make so much noise just sitting and watching tv

I have never known anything like the noises coming from OH.
Breathing, eating, sniffing and snorting noises. Driving me absolutely crazy. I'm physically biting my tongue because I feel like having a go at him for breathing might be a bit harsh, but I really really want to throw something at his head.

I am pregnant and have already had a go at him for vaping awful sickly sweet liquids right by me (I didn't like the smell before but now I can't stand it) so he's already banished to the cold kitchen to do that. I can't make him stand out there to breathe too can I?

I sometimes have to leave the room otherwise I may leap on DH and smother him with a sofa cushion. I have taken myself off to sleep on the sofa due to his sleep-chewing and smacking of lips. I feel rage rising so have to remove myself. It's called misophonia, apparently.

See also, people speaking publicly (TV, radio etc) who have slightly dry mouths and it sounds like they need a drink cos their tongue is sticking slightly when they talk. Makes me feel all weird and horrible. I'll switch straight off.

Before I got to the end of your first paragraph I was going to ask you if you could be pregnant Grin!

AuntMarch · 24/11/2018 21:02

It is good to know I'm not just a hormonal, irrational psycho!

I'm definitely not pregnant so it's not just a pregnancy hormone thing!

AuntMarch · 24/11/2018 21:04

@IstandwithPosie I will be amazed ifcwe both survive this Grin only another 31 weeks....

Grin oh dear! That will be a loooong 7 months!

AuntMarch · 24/11/2018 21:13

We don't live together yet and I'm wondering how the hell I'm going to cope with that far more than being nervous about having a baby to look after lol

Look up misophonia. I swear it can be specific to only certain people like DPs!!

fridayrain · 24/11/2018 21:30

I have had misophonia since I was about 11. It can be really debilitating at times & I think it's hormone related.

JustDanceAddict · 24/11/2018 21:33

I def have misophonia

bringbackthestripes · 24/11/2018 21:36

20 years of marriage.
I frequently turn to DH and ask if he can breathe/crunch/sigh/exist any louder.
I don’t understand how one person can be so LOUD.
YANBU.

This could be me writing this.

How can people breathe so noisily? I swear it's Darth Vader in here with me some nights.

AuntMarch · 25/11/2018 09:15

I'm not sure he will ever be convinced I'm not BU but at least now I know I am not Grin

Dh breathes heavily
Sometimes with a little rhythmic click on each breath

I not so politely tell him to stop breathing. 😂

Since he got a couple of false teeth last year he also does this thing where he runs his tongue around his gums. I guess it makes his mouth more comfortable.

I ask him what the fuck are you going, please close your mouth, that is minging to stop. 🤬

He also has always had ear problems and a habit of sticking his finger in his ear, wiggling it about creating a vacuum seal so when he removes it, it pops. EVERY time he does it I ask him not too as it gives me the vom 🤮

At least he doesn't fart very often

Notnowok · 25/11/2018 09:50

After months of asking my son to not breath so loudly he do finally stopped when work mates teased him. My d's then told me one of his friends got dumped because said friends gf couldn't stand the aloud breathing.
I googled it after noticing that exhaling was, loud not inspiration. There is absolutely no reason for it, it's a habit.
My colleagues bf burps and farts all the time claiming he has a gaseous stomach. No, he is just disgusting. Collecting so much air in your stomach you keep belching is caused by eating with your mouth open, talking with food in your mouth and gobbling. All of which he does.
Congratulations on your pregnancy I'd tell him be quiet or I'm not living with you. What's minor now is massive when living together. Good luck!
